Tap. First, let me say I am bummed that it is not, as advertised, a Vietnamese beer. Pours clear amber, medium creamy off-white head with good lacing. Aroma is pleasant with roasted malts and citrus hops. Taste has notes of citrus and roasted malt as well, but there is also a medium sweet fruity flavor that I cannot place. Finish starts bitter, ends a little sickly due to the fruit notes.

Tasting at Papsø’s
Hazy amber color. Mild fruity hops aroma; is that my impression or are there some Chinese spices? Interesting. Caramel flavor, there are some residual sugars but it’s not too sweet, light chocolate flavor. Quite special.

Draft. The bartender said the keg was a blend of regular Cháu Tiên with about 20% stout to make the Holiday Pale. Rich amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Spice and malt aroma with light roast. Spice and light chocolatey malt flavor with light grapefruit. Medium bodied. light chocolate lingers with light roast, spice, light pine, and a bit of butteriness.
