(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a small, rough, off-white head. Aroma of citrus and a little caramel. Medium body with a lightly sweet caramel base, a little peach and citrus and a vague bitterness. This has some potential if only the brewery dared to tune up the hops a little. 200208

(Bottle 33 cl) Slightly hazy, pale golden with no head. Discreet and lightly tart apple aroma. Medium body with lightly sweet apple accents and a little low in carbonation. A little sulphur in the finish. Scaringly easy to drink because as opposed to most other Scrumpies this is not alcoholic in the finish. The brewer even told me, that it’s actually watered down from 14% ABV. 110208

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a dense, beige head. Lightly burned malts in the nose. Light in body with lightly sweet, burned malt accents and an edge of cardboard. Lightly sweet, burned caramel accents and a dry finish with a rather subdued bitterness. 040208

(Plastic handbottle from the brewery 130 cl) Clear, amber golden with a decent, white head. Light tartness detected in the nose. Thin in body with light notes of caramel and fruit - and again this underlying tartness. No real bitterness. Poor. 300108

Bottled. Clear nut brown. Appley nose. Sweet and medium bodied with somewhat syrupy mouthfeel, Lightly roasty with some notes of wood. Long salty finish. A simplistic doppelbock where the flaws outweighs the positive sides.

Light brown colour. Soft chocolatey malt aroma. The body is thin. Flavours are malty but completely obscure. You can’t really pick any one thing out. No hops or anything like that, of course, so you’re left with a really dull malty beer.

Bottled. Dark reddish amber, rich dense head. Rich grapefruity hop aroma. Medium sweet with near full body and chewy mouthfeel. Dominated by hops, but not in the American way. Here the aromas are more restrained and complex and the bitterness might not reach higher than 25-30 IBU, allowing caramel malt and honey melon to shine through. A good showpiece of the rich beer scene in Nelson.

Bottled. Very dark brown, small beige head. Earthy and intensely chocolatey. Soft with light to medium body and notes of plastic. Fairly low hop rate, and the bitterness is rather low. MIlk chocolate finish.
