Tap at Weissbrau, Koln, 26/04/13. Hazed dark amber-orange with a mahoosive white head. Klassiker Douglas Herd (Mr Whippy) in appearance! Nose is light citrus, spice, pale malts. Taste comprises pale malts, light sugars, caramel, spice, orange. Medium bodied with fine carbonation, light bitter notes in the finish. Pretty mediocre.

Draught at the brauhaus
Black color; creamy head; nice lace. Mild aroma of roasted malt, with a trace of cheese rind and apples. The roasted malt and caramel flavor is quite good, with variations given by a hint of cheese and fruits; there is some light residual sweetness; correct bitterness (some from the roasted malt). Fresh. Balanced and interesting.

Muddy orange-golden color; generous creamy head, nice lace. The aroma is mild but nice, with a mix of malt, wheat, spices. The mouthfeel could be rounder, but it’s impacted by the carbonation that is too high; wheat flavor, apparently dry, with an unpleasant aftertaste of dirty water. Ordinary bitterness; no fruity touch. Simple.

Hazy blond color; compact head. The aroma is mild, with very light impression of cheese rind. The mouthfeel is too carbonated, and it’s also too cold; it doesn’t have unpleasant flavor of "corn", but also it doesn’t have other desired characteristics. Easy.

Draught at the brewpub. Good roasted aroma, hint of sweet liquorice. Black colour. Quite stable brown head. The flavour is very roasted with a lot of liquorice. Has a little dark malt in the finish, but mostly it is overpowered by the distinct roasted notes. After a while, it turns a bit towards soy notes. Perhaps an overkill of black malt?

Draught at the brewpub. Cloudy amber colour. Big stable head. OK banana aroma. The flavour is nice and sweet, nicely spicy, mostly clove. Not much banana or citrus in the flavour, but I do not miss it here. The carbonation is not as high as many other wheat beers, making it easy and pleasant to drink. Has a little chalky mouthfeel like their Kölsch and some Austrian beers.
