Somewhat thin and one-dimensional, but if you love mochchinno, you will love this beer. Not too sweet luckily, but not well balanced either.

amber color with a nice off-white head. Sweet malty aroma, fresh fruits, cherry, and a touch of oak. Nice body. Flavor isn’t as sweet or fruity as the aroma, more malts and iron. Nothing memorable good or bad with this one.

Dark mahogany color. Sweet malty nose. Cherries, oranges, wood. Smooth malty mouth with cherries, oranges, marshmellows, milk chocolate and pears. Very English in style. Alcohol is well hidden. A unique finish that has lingering blood orange notes. Definetely one of Japan’s best barley wines (though that doesn’t say much)

Apparently a Belgian yeast, triple fermented but an Imperial IPA style. Hazy golden amber color. Apple pie, caramel, cookies and earthiness in the nose. Odd, but not unpleasent. Thick, sweet syrupy mouth, buscuits, apple pie and caramel. Dry bitter finish with apple pie notes. Not sure what to make of it. A hybrid of sorts for sure and maybe deserves bonus points for ingenuity.

Thick white head over cloudy white color. Orange peel and coriander in the nose. Thick mouth. Much fuller than other wits with a bit of orange and coriander character along with some bready notes. Finish is extremely refreshing, but has an odd roasted peanut linger in the aftertaste, which is different.

Wayne (diajokey), again many thanks. Dark yellow color with a sticky lacing. Aroma and taste is musty hops with sweet white bread. Nothing special but a nicely done IPA, simple but well crafted.

Bottle. Hazy orange with a thick, medium sized head. Pine hops, citrus, oranges, with some caramel malts hanging out under the hops. Wow, it’s pretty bitter for a Japanese IPA. Pine and citrus hops dominate, resiny, a touch of sweet malts. Finish is long and bitter. Mouth is a little thin, but not bad. Pretty solid IPA. Found a bottle of this in a local grocery store not known for it’s beer selection, Japan never ceases to amaze me.

The piney, citrusy hoppy nose lets you know this amber brown beauty is all about the West Coast. Grapefruit hoppy start is not as bitter as expected, but the hop profile shines through nicely. Linger piney hoppy finish, albeit, not particularly strong.
