We’re proud to be a small, independent, family-owned business. Our founders Hamish Coates, Mel Holland and Colin Coates have stayed true to this for the entire life of the business.

With no outside investment or intervention, we make decisions based on what’s best for our staff, for our brewery and for the future of our planet.

This means that when it comes to doing the right thing, there are no shareholders or investors to answer to – we can just do it.

We are 100% independent, 100% family owned, and 100% of arguments are won by Ace – the dog!

Our farm and brewery take their name from a natural outcrop of ironstone that runs through the centre of our farm; “Rocky Ridge” perfectly sums up our slice of paradise and ironically sums up the somewhat rocky road that we are on as well.

The mango aroma leaps oit of the glass with vanilla, orange peel and bread. The taste has some aspirin as well. Very enjoyable in a taster at the brewery, but that's probably the right amount

44cl can at Vastactiv tasting. Poured dark brown in color, not much head. Strong malty and slightly berryish with raisiny notes, sweetness and vinous notes. Heavy stuff for sure.

(Can, 0.44l, thanks Arde, at VastActiv, 20240112) The beer poured toasted malts, raisins and prunes. Palate was full bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were prunes, raisins, vinous notes, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, malty and bitter. Pleasant.

Can at home, Espoo. Thanks Arde! Color is slightly cloudy dark brown with small slightly brownish head. Aromas and flavors: Caramel, strange alcohol elements (rum?), chocolate, malts... very strange.

(Can, 0.5l, thanks Arde, at VastActiv, 20240112) The beer poured dark brown. Its head was tiny and lightly brown. Aroma had toasted malts, burnt sugar and vinous notes. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt sugar, vinous notes, toasted malts, vanilla, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. Different. Easy to drink.

50cl can. Thx Arde. Poured near clear and golden. Citrus, grapefruit, pine, light sweetness, fruitiness, light bitterness. Delicious. Balanced.
