Draft at Keyaki Spring 2015. Dark golden color with a a thin off-white head. Aromas of grapefruit, orange and a bit of apple with some caramel malt as well. Thin body with a watery mouthfeel, which makes it super easy to drink and very refreshing. Great bitter finish. Hides the 6% ABV very well. --- Beer merged from original tick of I,Pa- on 15 Nov 2015 at 18:55 - Score: 8

Light amber color. Citrus and caramel malt exude from the nose. Thin body with good malt backbone fairly light. Super quaffable. Long bitter finish.

Dark brown color. Lots of coffee and roasted malts. Tons of coffee and roasted malts in the mouth. Very nicely balanced. The mouth is a bit thin but otherwise fantastic.

Hazy light golden color. Lots of mango and passionfruit in the nose very defined character. The mouth is basically flawless with some slightly sour notes, very light, watery body with very modest bitterness, thought the tropical fruit notes exudes through out. Mangos and pineapples linger at the end. Not necessarily the perfect pale ale but and the body isn’t as good as the purple sky but this is fucking fantastic. Y Market kicks ass.

On tap at CBM Koenji. Pours a clear brown gold color with a short lived foamy head. Lightly smoked aroma with a hint of orange and grain. As it warms up the smokiness comes out and is very well done. Not overdone at all. Lively carbonation and a light to medium body. Sparkling water like mouthfeel and a nice citrusy light bitter finish. Greast stuff --- Beer merged from original tick of IBUSHIGIN Smoke (燻し銀スモーク) on 07 May 2015 at 19:29 - Score: 7

On tap at CBM Koenji. Hazy deep orange to amber color with a nice soapy head that lasts throughout. Nice fruit forward aromas with malt aromas balancing well on the nose: apricot, pineapple, caramel and pepper all present. Bitter on the palate with a hint of sweetness from the malts. Medium to full body with great balance. Citrus flavors come out as it warms up a bit. Great bitter finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mighty Rook on 07 May 2015 at 19:27 - Score: 7

On tap at CBM Koenji. Hazy golden color with a thin head that leaves nice lacing. Server in a snifter. Huge tropical fruit bouquet with pineapple and Hawaiian punch aromas standing out. A little bit of dried apricot and banana on the nose as well. Really stands out from other barley wines I’ve tried which tend to highlight dark fruit. This is bright and citric. Thin to medium body with a pineapple creamsicle texture. Is this really 12%???!?! Drinkability is amazing althoguh slight warming finish, but nothing over the top at all. Slight bitter finish but palate is quite sweet. Complete fire from Y Market. --- Beer merged from original tick of YOFUKASHI Queen on 07 May 2015 at 19:28 - Score: 8

Tap at Komachi. Cloudy orange-amber with a low, fine head. Rather light smoke, chocolate, caramel, ham. Nice, subtle flavor, light smoke character, meaty malt. Low ale fruitiness. Bit of tingly citrus hop. Nicely drinkable, though a but too restrained.

Ibushigin smoke 5.6% On tap at Dig. Pouring a deep reddish gold with a thick off-white head the aroma is of a honey glazed smoked ham - mouth-watering. Medium bodied with a raspy active carbonation. The taste is crackery bacon flavored cheezits - yum. I want to down this with BBQ. A well balanced smoked ale with a tangy finish perfect for pairing with food.

Tap at the brewery. Pours nice golden-amber, thin layer of foam. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Summer berries. Taste is surprisingly dry, hop bitterness is there, feels much lighter than it should, dangerously drinkable for 12% beer. Aftertaste is dry, drying your mouth. Another good one today. Would really like to try this when it has aged a bit.
