Tap at brewpub. Hazy ruby color, steady small beige head. Strong pine/spruce needle aroma. Medium-bodied. Piney flavor, dry but not overly hoppy. Simple but good. Simcoe, Citra. 5.5 %

Tap at 1020. Nose of charcoal, soy, licorice and grapes. Dry flavor, a bit of fruit, some coffee and light soy sauce. Very light body. Drinkable but not much happening for the strength. Could be sweeter, and the body is like a 4% stout. Somewhat disappointing.

Tap at Keyaki. Great tropical fruit nose, durian, mango, citrus, a touch of caramel. Rather sweet and oily. Nicely done.

Tap at Keyaki. Great nose of mangoes and oranges, honey. Glowing pastel orange color. Just a bit beery--just enough to make it work, bitter finish, nicely dry. Great mango flavor. I really like this, even though it isn’t all that beery. Tastes refreshing and dry.

Tap at Keyaki. Weird nose, lemons, wheat, coriander maybe, but definitely Sorachi Ace. Very lemony. iog sorachi flavor, lemony, buttered bread, wheat. Rather works, though personally I don’t care for so much of this hop. Unique and well done.

Part of the tasting set at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. An opaque gold pour with a filmy beige head. The aroma is solid: a mildly bitter nose of clean spicy earthy bitterness. A good smell of malt & noble hops but a touch hoppier than most lagers. Clean tasting with a balanced hop/malt profile. Tasty & easy to drink. Very nice. This and the Maruhachi IPA were my fav Y Market beers at the fest.

On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. A classy looking clear copper gold with a big hop forward fruity/floral nose. Medium to full bodied, very smooth with a silky mouthfeel. The taste is a good mix of bitter resinous hops & fruity/floral notes. A good double IPA!

On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. It pours a really orange fruit cocktail looking beer. It looks like juice, cloudy orange, the aroma is yeasty mango & oranges. Medium bodied, fruity mango a dash of orange & some cardboard. I applaud the experimentation but this needs more work.

This was a good attempt at a session IPA, but I found the body too watery and unbalanced, though good hop character, and very refreshing. I think this is still something that can be improved upon.
