Bottle at the New Gentry Beerhouse, Hanoi. Not really a double IPA at 6.5% but with brewer intent and all that I suppose it sticks. The aroma is toffee caramel malt, light red berry fruit, resin, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bittter, light sweet, with a sweet malt, surprisingly boozy, warm alcohol, dry woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. I’m starting to wonder if the ABV on the label is a misprint.

Bottle at the Peachy Craft Beer Bar, Hanoi. Poured a hazy dark brown, almost black colour with a mostly lasting frothy, light tan head, The aroma is toffee caramel treacle malt, floral, liqouirce hop. The flavour is moderate sweet, light liquorice bitter with a smooth, rich, big caramel malt, liquorice, sticky treacle toffee palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Lots of flavour but a little watery and lacks body for a beer of this style.
