Tap at Ushi-Tora. Deep brown to black with some slight cloudiness. Huge roasted malt-forward nose with dark chocolate, grass and hop aromas. Average carbonation with a medium body. More roasted malt notes come out on the palate. Bitter, roasty finish with some light grassy hops. Finish is a little spiky and rough. --- Beer merged from original tick of First Impact #055 on 01 Apr 2016 at 19:24 - Score: 6. Tap at Ushi-Tora 2. Glowing straw color with almost no carbonation and a tiny white film of head. Lemonade and wheat on the nose. Close to flat carbonation on the palate with a nice light and refreshing character. Some light tartness in the finish with a touch of salt at the end of the glass. Good, but more carbonation might have been nicer. Maybe a more traditional gose I suspect, but does anyone really know what that means anyway. --- Beer merged from original tick of #078 / Kyoto Brewing Kyoto Jihen on 01 Apr 2016 at 19:19 - Score: 6. Original review text: Lemonade like tartness. Soft carbonation. Creamy, yogurty on the palate. Feels a little flat in the finish. Salt only in the last sip.

Tap at Watering Hole. Deep brown to black with a half-finger of head. Huge cacao and espresso-forward nose with some light cinnamon and nutmeg notes as it warms. Hides the abv perfectly with a smooth and silky mouthfeel. Really nice roasted cacao feel but not burned. Well-balanced and dangerously drinkable. Some prune comes out after it sits for a while as well. Nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of #072 Mashi Mashi no Kuro '16 Spring on 28 Mar 2016 at 22:29 - Score: 7. Original review text: Boozy but lots of chocolate, cinnamon and wood. Tasty.

Tap at Watering Hole. Mugi-cha-like nose with some minerals, lemon, straw and lemongrass notes. Average carbonation with a light body. Almost like a minerally South African sauvignon blanc. Yuzu Saison Ushitora 5.4% 20 IBU  A light gold with a thick white head. The aroma is wheat, saison pepperiness  and yuzu. Light bodied and dry with a pronounced almost syrupy yuzu tangy sweetness. You get some saison character in the finish though which is nice. Decent.

Tasting flight at Watering Hole. Big yuzu nose with with some light orange marmalade. The yuzu is really strong and lingers throughout. Lots of yuzu on the palate with some light white grapefruit notes and some crackery malts. Body was maybe a tad too soft, but still good flavor for the abv. Light pithy bitterness on the finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of MURASE #003 Yuzu Saison Ikkoku on 19 Feb 2016 at 21:26 - Score: 7. Original review text: Big Yuzu nos band flavor. Light body but refreshing....body maybe a tad too thin.
