2nd Story Ale Worksは、徳島市郊外の山間部にあり、のどかな田園風景が眺められる小さな醸造所です。私達は、様々なビールを作りますが、共通して言えるのは、高品質であるべきということです。何よりも品質を一番に考えております。

We are a small beer brewery located on a farm on the outskirts of Tokushima city. We make a range of different beers with the common thread being high quality. Other than quality we try not to take things too seriously. We are making beer after all, it should be fun.

Tap at the newly expanded Beer Komachi. My first 2nd Story Ale Works beer! NEIPA 7% Honey moly gold with a dense 1cm of foam and a nice tropical aroma. The smooth medium to full body gives sweet tropical fruits and chewy (oats?). It’s got a bit of an orange tang at the finish, really good. It’s a nice example of the style, very drinkable but the finish is a touch on the dry side.

golden color. Frothy white head. Very clean cereal malt nose. The palate is fairly clean with nice cereal maltiness but the yeast is fairly strong giving some apple notes and hops giving some citrus notes!? Having a hard time getting my head around this one. Well made. Definitely not very dry or grassy, but aggressive bitterness. I dare say an bohemian pils but diacytle was screwed up. As It warms butter character pops out more, but get more lemon meringue pie. Interesting. Don’t love but do like it

Belgian Ume Ale from 2nd Story Ale Works

Tap at Takumi. Dark orange color, clear. Spicy Belgian yeast nose with relatively faint ume plums and some bready, amber malt. flavor is ume, earthy malts, Belgian yeast spiciness. Not quite there yet but interesting.

very turbid light white amber color. Frothy white head. Smells like orange and mango juice mixed. Pretty surprised, the nose is better than expected. Medium full body, slightly more bitter than expected but not bad. Light acidity, Could use some lactose to improve the mouth feel but overall this is good stuff.

Bottled, I think. Nice hazy golden color with lace. Biscuits, citrus, tropical fruit nose. Nice. Sweet and wheaty, lots of tropical fruit, some minerals. A bit heavy and gooey but moving in the right direction and decent.
