Description
We started Carbon Brews in 2018. Since day one, we have been an employee’s-driven brewery that continues to push the boundaries with our innovative beers. Our goal is to use our creative brews to bring excitement to the Hong Kong beer drinkers which they can share with their friends. Our brewery is located in the city’s industrial area Fo Tan (“Tan” is the Cantonese character for “carbon”!) where all of our employees collaboratively develop and brew ground breaking recipes with our 30HL brewhouse.

Can from Brewcraft at home. Had several times - first on tap then in cans. Loved it first time we tried it at the beer festival PMQ. Has been great in cans too. Wanted to try alongside Gweilo’s new Solitaire NEIIPA. Great to have 2 examples of such a specific style from HK now. Crazy Rich Lupulins is darker and more orange than Solitaire. A deep peach/apricot color - opaque in a nice, and style-appropriate way. Minimal head. Aroma is juicy and zesty tangerine, with some grapefruit rounding out. Very nice. Taste is similarly tangerine/grapefruit, with same juicy sweetness and zesty bitterness. Palate is smooth and rich, with zingy-ness characteristic of this style. Some alcohol on the finish. Lasting citrus zest. Delicious. Makes me appreciate it even more compared to Solitaire, which is very good in its own right, but I much prefer this. Updated dozens and dozens of cans later in June 2020 with version 11. Upgraded the rating - it’s truly delicious. Amazing beer to have such ubiquitous access to fresh. Updated again Aug 2020 with v13. So. Damn. Good.
