Classically conceived quad - after equally classic blonde and tripel in this series. Very thick and dense, rocky, pale greyish white head, hazy deep ruddy bronze colour perturbed by fierce sparkling. Aroma of dried apple peel, blue grapes, old raisins, diluted chocolate milk, caramel, brownies, peanuts, dried flowers, gin, some wet dog. Sweet onset, ripe figs and blue plums, some dried banana, very fizzy carbonation even for a Belgian style ale; still supple, full mouthfeel though, based on sweet caramelly malts with a light sourish edge. Herbal, bit spicy hop bitter accent in the finish, well-placed, but the sweetness continues, highlighted by a rum-like, warming alcohol effect. Clean, full-bodied, balanced and to the point, not over the top in sweetness like some other new quads, this is actually nicely done, though admittedly it doesn't add a lot to the Belgian beer map as this style has been done to death already (not to mention the even more ubiquitous blondes and tripels) - so if this is the quality level this new micro brewery can present us with, I hope they will find the creativity to come up with something less 'passé' than these three beers...

12/02/2017 - 33cl bottle shared with the brewer @ his home. Cloudy chocolate brown with light tanned head. Nose is malty, caramel, hops. MF just tick enough. Taste is first malty, some milk chocolate, caramel, than some dark to even gentle roasted malts, hops and little to hardly no sweetness in the end. Nice interpretation of the style. Not overly sweet or syrupy but with a nice hoptouch in the end.

12/02/2017 - 33cl bottle shared with the brewer @ his home. Hazy golden with nice white head. Nose is bitterhops, fruits, Taste is bitterhops, some fruits, citrus bit hidden, nice bitter ending, very little sweetness. Nice new beer from a new beerfirm @ my home town, only 4 km from my home. Classic style but not as sweet and spicy as lots of them. They choose to review it and mondernize it. One of the only triple beers I could enjoy on a hot summer’s day too.
