Draft at Hair of the Dog, Phloen Chit, Bangkok. Poured a crystal clear yellow golden colour with a short-lived frothy white head. The aroma is yeast and lemongrass. The flavour is dry yeasty, light sweet, with a light, crisp, dry, yeasty, light lemon citrus, mineral, herbal lemongrass, light floral palette. Medium to light bodied with average to soft carbonation. This had all the hallmarks of being a beer that I might not like, but true to form, Heart of Darkness came through. A really tasty sessionable beer.

Canned (from Alko Web). Hazy golden colour, small white head. Aroma is strawberry, some mild diacetyl like sweetness with mild herbal tones. Flavour is floral, some strawberries, mild sweetish tart elements as well. Strawberryish tart aftertaste.

330ml can from Heart of Darkness, Saigon. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a very short-lived, fizzy white head and lots of champagne bubbles. The aroma is pineapple, mango. The flavour is moderate sour, with a crisp, tart, juicy tropical citrus fruit, light sweet vanilla lactose palate. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation.

Draft at the HCMC brewpub. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is big banana. The flavour is yeasty dry bitter, with a light sweet banana, herbal, light hoppy, crispy subtle lemongrass palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Awesome for the climate but perhaps not for me right now as I’m freezing my nuts off sitting at the bar and my internal organs are closing down! Time to leave.

Draft at the HCMC brewpub. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a lasting frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is grainy malt, weedy hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a crisp, fresh, dark, grassy woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Weedy and bitter with really no fruit at all.

The flavour is light bitter, with a light, slightly watery, crisp, malt, light passionfruit, mango, light herbal, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. A light beer, but with plenty going on. Perfectly drinkable and Sessionable. I’d have another and that’s a compliment from me. A step above the standard BiA.
