On tap at Heart of Darkness - Singapore, pours a clear golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out underripe tropical stone fruits and lacto. Flavour is tart and juicy, with underripe stone fruits, lots of bittering hops, and sour juiciness. Tart, bitter and juicy. An oddity but it's solid.

On tap at Heart of Darkness - Singapore, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is dry, with cocoa nibs, oats, and toasted malt. Flavour is smooth and chocolatey, with lots of cocoa nibs, toasted malt, and oats. Hearty, dry and chocolatey. This is really solid stuff.

On tap at Heart of Darkness, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, oats, and a touch of dry cocoa. Flavour is surprisingly robust and full-bodied for a porter, with lots of soft toasted malt, velvety cocoa powder and a touch of coffee. Smooth and silky palate. Assertive but not abrasive. Excellent.

On tap at Heart of Darkness - Singapore, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with dank, piney hops upfront, a somewhat earthy character, and a dry biscuity malt. Flavour is oily and resinous in the hop department, with some pine, and sweet bready malt on the back-end. Oily, resinous body - the sweetness must come from the hop oils. Very nice.

On tap at Heart of Darkness - Singapore, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is loaded with lacto upfront, followed by semi-tart raspberries - very yogurty. Flavour is very yogurty as well, with heaps of lacto, and only lightly accentuated by raspberries. Very competently brewed - those raspberries are situated well. Good stuff.

On tap at Heart of Darkness - Singapore, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma brings out plenty of liquorice upfront, followed by cinnamon and vanilla. Flavour is loaded with cinnamon upfront, followed by liquorice and vanilla. Loads of cinnamon sticks round this out. Very good.

On tap at Heart of Darkness - Singapore, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out a nice champagne yeast character upfront, with dank hops, and crisp crackery malt. Flavour is dank, with lots of pot-like hops, and just enough presence from the brut yeast - bone dry, yet remains dank. Good stuff.

Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a two centimetre tall rich brown head on top. Aroma of roasted malts, prunes, light grain, some licorice, alcohol, lactose and a touch of oatmeal are all noticeable, but the malt and pitted fruits are seemingly quite weak. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt presence with a lot of lactose and pure creaminess, with a touch of oatmeal, some grain and a little sweetness towards the end that shows some caster sugar, but also some more caramelised notes and the ever-present lactose. Aftertaste shows the cream and full malt presence with some more astringent pitted fruits and bitterness from the malts and sugars with a light licorice twang towards the end, as well. Overall, an interesting take on the style which shows much more closer to a sweet stout or even a porter than an Imperial Stout, but we are on the other side of the world, so these things and certain styles can fade their true definitions. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from the Heart of Darkness brewery here in Saigon, Vietnam on 10-August-2019 for 115,000VND a few hours earlier, sampled while packing for the next leg of my trip, while they did not have the 'aged' Imperial Stout that I would have rather tried - well there is next time here in Vietnam!

Fairly hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall pure white head that fades quickly and leaves an ugly lace on the side of the glass. Aroma of grass and tropical fruits with a lot of bitterness noticeable from the hops with some dry grain, full oranges and more tropical fruits like guava and even a dose of passionfruit at the tail end. Medium-bodied; Assertive bitterness up front with a healthy hand of tropical fruit-showing hops and a lot of alcohol showing through with a moderate and balanced amount of biscuity malts that even show a touch of a wheatie side of things and smoothness. Aftertaste is robust and rich with the tropical fruits, hop bitterness and strong malt all coming through. Overall, a strong and pungent NE IPA that shows the fruit sides first and foremost, but also a great malt balance and smooth light sweetness on the end - this is great to have a beer like this on the other side of the world than New England. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased a few hours ago from the Brewery here in Saigon, Vietnam on 10-August-2019 for 115,000VND sampled a few hours later here in my hotel room while packing for the next leg of my vacation on 10-August-2019.

Crisp copper and bronze coloured body without any glow or haze, all with a nice, relatively large four to five centimetre tall off-white head at first that does fade quite quickly to just a thinnish layer on top after several moments. Aroma of tropical fruits, guava, light oranges, a dose of pine and resin and a touch of alcohol on the very end. Medium-bodied; Strong piney and floral bite at first with a lot of hop bitterness up front, although more on the perfumey and grassy front and less on the pure hop cone bitternesss, and no fruity or resinous flavours are evident either. Aftertaste shows the grassy and piney flavours with some light malt notes as a good balance and some relatively strong astringent alcohol notes as well, all with a touch of sweetness. Overall, a nice and enjoyable beer that shows a solid IPA with a good deal of bitterness, but better balance throughout. Great to sample fresh and better even to pick this up at the brewery. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased a few hours ago at the Brewery here in Saigon, Vietnam on 10-August-2019 for 95,000VND sampled a few hours later here in my hotel room here in Saigon before leaving for much cooler climate in Sydney, Australia.

Tap at the original HCMC Taproom. Poured a hazy golden straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grainy malt, mango, citrus light banana. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a super fresh, crisp, light banana, juicy citrus, stone fruit, earthy mineral, dry peppery hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.
