Newgrass Brewing Company resides in heart of what many people know as the “City of Pleasant Living,” otherwise known as Shelby, North Carolina. We draw on our farmland surroundings, traditions and local heroes for inspiration while striving to maintain our own unique and progressive brewing concepts.

Just as the “newgrass” music genre was a progressive take on a very traditional style of music in bluegrass, Newgrass Brewing Company strives to do the exact same by blending renditions of traditional styles with deconstructed and reinterpreted progressive brews that have no borders.

Strawberry Golden Graham Surreality from Newgrass Brewing Company

Draft at Salud. Normally I scoff at beers made with breakfast cereal. But this one works. The graham cracker flavor and aroma comes through nicely, and the strawberries are a welcomed addition, again in both the aroma and flavor.

Sample at Release the Funk 5. Bright clear golden color. Aroma of subtle feet and funk. Taste has vinous stonefruit, vanilla, complex sourness. Very tasty.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a nice citrus fruit with some peach and green onion. Flavor is more fresh citrus fruit with more of a pineapple hops. With 7 different varieties of hops you would expect this to be super fruit hoppy and it is, without being bitter. My only problem with this beer is that they say "drink fresh" on the can but then don't put a canned on date on it.

Heart of Glass. Blondie. I get it. Hazy golden yellow color white head. Aroma of light straw and pepper. Taste has subtle pepper. Easy drinking.
