Belgian and Hop forward inspired Brewpub located in Historic Uptown Shelby, North Carolina. Enjoy up to 16 hand-crafted brews, cuisine and live music.

Newgrass Brewing Company resides in heart of what many people know as the “City of Pleasant Living,” otherwise known as Shelby, North Carolina. We draw on our farmland surroundings, traditions and local heroes for inspiration while striving to maintain our own unique and progressive brewing concepts.

Just as the “newgrass” music genre was a progressive take on a very traditional style of music in bluegrass, Newgrass Brewing Company strives to do the exact same by blending renditions of traditional styles with deconstructed and reinterpreted progressive brews that have no borders.

16oz can pours a muddy orange with some sticky, lasting white head. Nose is cool, orange creamcicle, orange, vanilla, grass, mango. Flavor follows, mango, pineapple, green vanilla, orange, tangerine, grass. Finishes creamy, bitter, a little astringent.

Draft at Salud. Clearish golden yellow color. Aroma of herbal straw. Taste is subtle spiced lemon. One of the least Bretty Brett beers I’ve had.

Draft at Common Market. Nearly opaque brown color, small tan head. Aroma of chili and subtle cocoa. Taste is pure peppers. Heat dominates all.

Draft at The Hop Shop. Opaque dark brown color tan head. Roasty cocoa aroma. Taste has light spice, roast, cranberry enters only at the finish. Very tasty beer but the saison characteristics are hidden.

Draft at Salud. Hazy to cloudy golden pink color, off white head. Nice fruity aroma. Taste is juicy earthy fruit. Interesting.
