Sample from 2017 Virginia Craft Brewers Fest, Charlottesville. Very simple and straightforward. Grasses, light pear, more grass. Fine.

Black Oatmeal Stout from Beale's Beer

Charred oak, hazelnut nose. Black, thin tan head. Charcoal, walnut. Light to medium body, easy carbonation. Heavy on the char and dry, but nice.

Rosehips nose, fairly strong. Clear copper, thin yellow head. Marigold, rosehips. Grapefruit finish. Medium body, easy carbonation, resinous.

Coconut Cream from Beale's Beer

No aroma. Clear golden, thin head. Cracked wheat with hints of corn pops cereal. Most intense at midpalate. Light body, easy carbonation. If more cream ales were this good, I could get into this style. Very nicely done!
