(10/27/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in San Francisco. Clear deep amber color. Aroma of malt and some toasty notes. Sweetish malty flavor with a bit of toast, caramel and light fruitiness, and finishes with mild hoppy bitterness. Not bad, just boring.

(10/27/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in San Francisco. Menu says 5.2% ABV. Cloudy yellow-orange color with a white head. Aroma full of esters - banana, clove and some apple notes. Sweet wheaty flavor with banana, light spiciness, subdued bubblegum notes and a slightly-bitter-slightly-acidic finish. Medium-bodied. Tasty, refreshing, and true to style.

Pour is redish gold with a large fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet with not much else. Flavor is again not much else. I guess there is some watermelon in there but im not sure watermelon has enough of a flavor it self to be added to beer. Watermelon basicaly just tastes like water to begin with. This is not something i need again. Its like they dropped a watermelon jolly rancher in a beer and let it disolve.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Sumemr fruit and pine aroma. Summer fruit, grapefruit, and pine flavor with backing malt. Medium body. Sumemr fruit and grapefruit linger. Nice bitterness - especially for a pale ale. Described as ’Pliny-light’ and brewed as a Pro-Am with Mike McDole (who also won Sam Adams Long Shot contest with his modified Pliny clone).
