Description
12 Acres Brewing Company is a new craft brewery located in Clonmore, Killeshin, Co. Laois. It has been set up by brothers Patrick, Ian, Barry & Rory McDonald on their family farm.
12 Acres Brewing company at Clonmore, Killeshin is the first commercial brewery to operate in County Laois since the closure of Perrys of Rathdowney in 1966. The idea for a farm-based microbrewery was the brainchild of Paddy McDonald, whose father, grandfather and great grandfather all farmed at Clonmore.
“The 12 Acres field on our farm is where we have been growing malting barley for the brewing industry for generations. Now we are craft brewing our own beer and we’ve named it after one of the fields where the barley is grown”.

500ml bottle at home. Pours a deep brown, almost porter-like color, dense tan head. Funny sort of an aroma, chocolate, a bit of roasted nuts, but an unexpected floral hop note too that’s a little out of place. Taste is more traditional brown ale, toasty roasty flavours, slight hop bitterness. A bit anemic, would love this if some oatmeal was added to the brew to smooth it out.
