Draft at Bert’s in Millersville, PA. This isn’t cider, its soda. It even tastes like this an added artificial sweetener or at least some added flavors. There is something more than apple in this thing, I swear. And its super sweet and a waste of my time.

Tap pig iron. Pale yellow. Slight apple perfume nose. Taste is better than expected considering the name. Was expecting rye bitterness like in rye pale ale but there is none. Mellow, easy going. Better than many dry ciders in feel. Cannot really detect any rye barrel in there. Well behaved and easy, you’d never know this is over 7%! Pretty good stuff!

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass from Greg & Jane’s Beer and Wine. Appearance is dark brown with effervescent sparkle, finger-width light brown foamy head with good retention and decent lacing. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, light dark fruit and what smells a little like sour fruit, earth. Sour fruit presence grows as it warms. Taste is lightly sour fruit, chocolate, roasted malts (and again, gets more sour at it sits). Palate is medium bodied with creamy texture, average-to-lively carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter roasted finish. Overall, it started out really good all around but what started as a fleeting tease of sour became too present toward the end.
