Draft. A dark red-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and nuts. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of smoke, bacon, roasted malt, and nuts, leading to a dry, roasted, and lightly smoked finish.

Tap at Stone World Bistro. Pours copper/amber with off white head. Aroma and taste, smoked malts, plenty of dark fruits, caramel malts, toffee?, with a distinct smoke profile. Nice tasty stuff, not used to tasting smoke in a scotch ale.

Glass thanks to Mark at Craftsman. Pours a hazy purple to red color with a very generous white head that stays for the duration. Aroma is a bit spicy, and vinous with grapes. Taste is very nice, with a bit of tart grapes (albeit not sour), and some nice Belgian yeast esters that add a bit of spiciness. Smooth mouthfeel. Light carbonation. Pleasant beer. Very well hidden alcohol if it really is 8%.
on more recent tastings, jam and sage notes toward the finish...and of course wine.

Draught thanks to Mark at Craftsman. Pours with a foamy, light brown head and a hazy brown body. Aroma is boozy with a bit of wood, brown sugar and caramel, very little hops. Taste is dark fruits, brandy, brown sugar, caramel and a bit yeasty. Malt is very pronounced and fresh (tastes like a brewery on brew day smells). Smooth, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Light carbonation.
