Founder and Chief Beer Officer, An Bui has gained international recognition in his years spent working at his family-owned restaurant, Mekong, the Vietnamese eatery located in Richmond, Virginia. Founded in 1995, Mekong flourished into an award-winning spot for beer enthusiasts because of its wide variety of rare and international beers and expansive food menu. After years of spreading his passion for craft beer to the local community and throughout, Bui decided to take things a step further. On September 2, 2014, An opened the doors to The Answer Brewpub, his very own craft brewery. Featuring 56 taps, 2 bars, and an exceptional stage area for live music, The Answer has become another means of An’s continuous vision to expand the Richmond beer community.

Mini crowler pours out black topped with a tan head. Nose is nice sweet chocolate cinnamon maple a touch of banana. Taste is more of the chocolate French toast kick forsure.

Can thanks to Randy. Pours a muddy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, coconut, marzipan, chocolate. Slick body, toasted coconut, milk chocolate, spice, light boozy finish, very nice.

750ml bottle I scored via trade. Pours a syrupy brown with just a little white head. Nose is decadent and nice, caramel, butterscotch, maple, light mocha. So smooth. Butterscotch and coffee in the mouth. Syrupy mouthfeel. Loved this. 9 3 9 4 16

Draft at The Answer. Poured a clear orange color with a very small white head. Aroma was big lime - huge key lime! Flavor was tart, light sea breeze, with lime citrus. Really nice stuff.

Draft at The Answer. Poured a pitch black color with a small, wispy head. Aroma was big bourbon, vanilla, and wood. Coconut, with a bit of peppery heat. Flavor was coconut, bourbon, with a peppery heat. Alcohol is there, but it's pretty well hidden - not really sure the alcohol is really as high as they're claiming.

Draft at The Answer. Poured a chunky raspberry, blackberry, and other berries. Looks like pureed juice. Aroma was big berry juice. Flavor was like melted frozen berries. Really smooth, really tasty. Light tartness. Some booze sneaks in at the end.

Draft at The Answer. Poured a hazy yellow color with a fizzy, long lasting, big lacing white color. Aroma was big, sharp lemon, calamansi. Flavor was tart citrus. Interesting.
