Founder and Chief Beer Officer, An Bui has gained international recognition in his years spent working at his family-owned restaurant, Mekong, the Vietnamese eatery located in Richmond, Virginia. Founded in 1995, Mekong flourished into an award-winning spot for beer enthusiasts because of its wide variety of rare and international beers and expansive food menu. After years of spreading his passion for craft beer to the local community and throughout, Bui decided to take things a step further. On September 2, 2014, An opened the doors to The Answer Brewpub, his very own craft brewery. Featuring 56 taps, 2 bars, and an exceptional stage area for live music, The Answer has become another means of An’s continuous vision to expand the Richmond beer community.

Draft at The Answer. Poured a pitch, motor oil black color with a very small, wispy dark brown head. Aroma was huge over ripe bananas, with a light rum notes. Flavor was huge banana, light roast, very smooth. Really rich. Alcohol is listed as 14.5 but I'm going to have to call BS on that - no way it's that high. Can someone do an audit?

Draft at The Answer. Poured a very deep, ruby red color with a light-red head. Aroma was huge blueberries. Very fruity, like this tasted just like pureed blueberries. I'm thinking there's no way this was 10% - barely can taste the alcohol in this one.

Draft pour at The Answer. Poured a clear medium-dark yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was super crisp. Sweet, crisp, enjoyable. Grain, herbal notes, grassy.

Bottle at Free the Whales. Pours a dark brown with small tan head. The aroma is strong coconut, banana runts, bourbon. Slick body, vanilla cream, toasted coconut, boozy finish, enjoyed this.

Panda thanks to Cloin: Poured a deep black brown with a beige head. Aroma is high boost, molasses, toffee, roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits. Taste is rich roasted malts, milk chocolate, toffee and caramel, cocoa, fudge/cake batter.

Can from Brew Cavern and shared at Watford Tasting. Thanks to me. Rich coffee aroma. Dark Opaque.. Beige head.  Bitter boozy coffee.  No complaints.

Can shared at the mbcw mini beer celebration watford tasting. Thanks. A dark brown black coloured pour with a halo of beige head. Aroma is semi sweet, oily coconut, jammy fruits, coconut salty,. Ruatiy penny, bitter, brown sugars, liquorice. Ok. Brown sugars.

Can split at MBCW '22 (Minchen (Louise) ... clutching at straws for names now ... Beer Celebration Watford), thanks to Fergus, 13/05/22. Light black with a decent enough khaki crown that veers edgewards. Nose is dark malts, roast, cocoa powder, spice, charr, toffee. Taste comprises mellow roast, vanilla, cocoa powder, light coffee, charr. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of alcohol. Not bad.

Mini crowler from Rich at share. Dark brown pour with a thin beige head. Rich aroma of chocolate and maple, notes of coconut and vanilla. Taste adds some light coffee to the mix, really bringing out the cake vibes, although the maple doesn't quite fit.
