Hazy unfiltered yellow, huge long lasting head, lots of lacing. Sour wheat, citrusy. Palate slightly watery, light malt, above average carbonation. Decent. Local brewer, so will have to pay a visit, next time out on town.

Sampled from the tap at 2012 FOBAB. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer and laces slightly. Aroma has light grain with a good amount of pepper coming through and some rye barrel coming through. Flavor has light pepper and barrel allowing for a sweet grain note to come through and balance.

Tap at Haymarket pub and brewery, Chicago - 04/11/12. Clear pale amber with a thin off white head that soon thins to a pond and the edges. Malty nose with background toffee and dark sugars. Taste is malt forward, toffee, light diacetyl tones but not so much as to impair the taste. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, crisp and bitter finish.

Enjoyed on tap at Sheffield’s in Chicago, IL while eating dinner with some friends, talking about random stuff. I didn’t take tasting notes, so I’m not going to get into details about specifics, but I remember this being an above-average Oktoberfest brew, and would gladly like to have this one again.

On draught at Hopleaf. This beer pours a nearly opaque copper-brown color with a medium fluffy light beige head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing. Aroma of toasted malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, mildly bitter hops and a bit of ripe fruit. The finish is roasty with a malt aftertaste. Decent all around.

Draft at Empty Bottle. Hazy yellow tan, thin oily head. Really smooth and creamy, fresh and well done. Doughy, soft on the palate. The unfiltered aspect of the beer really adds dimension. Simple, light body. Some orange tones. A hard style to nail down but this comes close. A great session beer, thirst quenching and sublime.
