Bottle via a trade (extra). Pours with a clear, light golden body with a nice, medium sized white head that slowly fades. Aromas of are grassy, herbal and slightly peppery hops, buttered bread, lightly toasty. Nice grainy pilsner note. Flavors lead off bitter, grassy and lightly bready. Kind of an unpleasant vegital mid palate, with a bit of metallic and lingering bitterness in the finish. Dry, bitter, slightly metallic. Very lively bubbles.

Draft at Hopleaf. Orange-brown with a soapy, steady off-white head. Nutty brown malt aroma. A little dark and sugary sweet for the style. Deep nutty malt tones. Pretty solid, just lacks a a good hop edge. More along the lines of a Brown Ale.

Bottle at Shoeless Joe’s in Chicago. Pours a slightly cloudy pale golden color with a thin white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit and honey. Light body with flavors of citrus, honey and malt. Mild hops in the background. The finish is lemony with a lingering fruity aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Thanks to stace for the bottle. I can’t say that I’ve had all that many different examples of this style, but this is a good beer, refreshing and summery. It pours a somewhat hazy pale yellow, somewhere between maize and madder yellow. Head is sudsy, relatively small and white. The aroma is pale malt-sweet with a mild vinous character. I’d prefer a bit more grape, but it’s a minor complaint. A tiny bit of butterscotch sneaks in as it warms. Flavor is fairly sweet, but there’s a nice grassy noble hop bite in the finish. This is a refreshing beer that doesn’t try to overwhelm you with flavor. Good for a hot day. Mouthfeel is light, airy and a touch slick. Good beer though I’m still not entirely won over to the style.

12 oz bottle poured into a shaker pint at Dunlay’s in the logan square neighborhood - Chicago, Illinois. Pour is clear golden copper, with a nice white head. Aroma is nice soft floral hops, on top of clean cracker malt. Fresh, though a bit underwhleming. Taste is the nose, soft floral hops up front, decent backbone of malt in the middle, slight earth and mineral in the finish. Light to medium bodied, though a tad uncarbonated which made it a bit dead in the mouth.Taste broke down a bit as it warmed, though still nice enough.

Very good offering from this Chicago lager brewery. 12 oz bottle, pours golden and hazy. Aroma seems sweet at first, but after a couple of sniffs it reveals the wheat, corn, malt, and a hint of yeast. Very smooth and refreshing, rather present aftertaste that lingers in a good way. Tastes similar to how it smells but the wheat and light hops become much more powerful on its way down. Two thumbs up!

12 oz bottle from msante79. Nose of grassy hops, and light caramel. Lightly hazy gold with a medium off white head. Flavor is peppery with light bitterness and a hint of caramelly sweetness.

12 oz bottle from msante79. Thanks! Nose is grassy hops and white bread. Hazy yellow eith a small, pale yellow head. Flavor is lightly bitter with a white pepperiness and a little sweet maltiness. Finish is lightly bitter.

12 oz. bottle. The Krankshaft finally made it our to the burbs, so I can claim all of Metro’s primary brews. Warm, malty beer smell as soon as I pop the crown. Pours a hazy straw color, with a steady stream of bubbles feeding a slightly fizzy white head. In the glass, there’s a slight fruity smell of a warm ferment. Fruit is more prominent in the first sip. A nice biscuity malt body that’s easy drinking. Spicy hops (the label now refers not to Tettnang, but Santiam, an American hybrid with Tettnang in its lineage). Stands up well against the more established Goose island Summertime. Taste is fresh and sunny, and goes down easy, even if it’s just a little gassy afterward.
