Pours copper with gold edges and loose thin white head lasting a good 40 seconds. The aroma has caramel, light dark fruitiness and a touch of graininess being run down by a wave of brown sugar. The taste begins bubbly sweet with brown sugar and light notes of grainy molasses and caramel. The carbonation gets a bit prickly staving off the overly sweet table sugar and brown sugar like notes. Behind the slick sweetness are mild notes of floral hops, earthy hops and plastic trashbag.

bottle - Sold as Bard’s Gold, says it’s brewed and bottled by Bard’s Tale Beer Co., Utica, NY - Pours gold with a thin white head. It smells sugary with some caramel. The flavor is sweet and sugary with a little caramel and just a touch of hops in the finish along with lingering sweetness. It’s light bodied and fuzzy. This beer is pretty lame and overpriced. I’ve had three sorghum beers now and none of them were worth much. Sorry, people with celiac disease...

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Glen Allen, VA. Utica label. Pours an amber color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is sugary caramel with some earthy, gummy notes. Taste is very similar.... sugar and caramel with some light honey. Very sweet but not cloying. Thin bodied and watery. Not too unpleasant.

Bottled as Bard’s Gold from Bard’s Tale Beer Co., Utica NY. Sky blue double B label. The RB listing was very difficult to find, but this must be it. Weak honey aroma. Dark gold color, clear, no head. Honey and light wood flavor. Woody lemon grass finish. Great for a gluten free brew. It’s comforting to know that if I ever develop an allergy to wheat or gluten, I’ll still be able to enjoy a good beer.

Bottle marked 2/12/08. Pours with a fizzy white head that goes leeaving a clear penny colored body. No lacing. Aroma of cheap malt, cheese rinds and plums. Taste is sweet with coconut, nuts and granmanier (in a very poor marriage of the three). Very sweet with soggy malts at the finish. Fizzy and dry.

Dark golden with a small white head. Sweet grainy malt aroma, with notes of nuts and prunes. Sweet fruity flavour, with a slightly sour fruit juice-like note. Considering the other ratings, it must have been oxidized. And that may not have been a bad thing...

Dragon Whiz. In Zimbabwe (which I knew as Rhodesia) the Mashona brew a substance called doro, which is made of millet or sorghum. They use bread yeast, and drink large quantities until they are bestonkered. It’s a ghastly mess, but better and safer than the water. This tasted almost exactly like that. Bottle. Poured pale gold with white foam. Aroma of caramel, and nothing else. Flavour of caramel, and water. Finish of caramel and nothing else. Pas op!.

Bottle: Pours a dark golden color with a smaller white head. Aroma is sweet and of malts and honey. Flavor is sweet and honeylike with a bit of caramel. Creamy mouthful. Can’t say it tasted real bad, but it lacked much definitive flavor overall.

Nope, from the beginning has more personality than a regular old lager. Has a candy like fragrance. This is more like an ale, offensive, just like most ale. Has that ale character that makes it a prominent arrival on the palate. Much more offensive and ale-like compared to regular old american pale lagers. Has a rather malty personality that makes it feel much more than 4.7%. Also may i say this is darker and more orangish than the typical pale yellow lager. I would say this is more than a pale yellow lager, it is equal to many ales in personality, after all, it is an ale!
