Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a black color with a large foamy dark tan head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was roasty with anise, chocolate, vodka and cola. The flavor was toasty and roasty with bitter floral hops, anise, chocolate and a boozy presence. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Solid.

I believe the correct name of this draft is Bocctahne. Listed here is the english pronunciations. Had this at the 2/20/16 Pittsburgh RB Gathering @ Insurrection in Heidelberg. Big thanks to my fellow ratebeerians! Presentation is large and in charge, its big and black. Really perfect choco moose head. Mild high octane impy stout olfactory. Particularly flat if you notice but that smooth mouth coating slippery brew leaves your taste buds wondering what hit em. Smooth cunning alky impressions lurking in a really dark quickening brew. Perhaps a little slicker and more civilized compared to other ruder imps because of its refinement but impy stout is not for me and if you like this style, you must stop by and check it out. Yes, rudely and terribly on style. Hey, did you guys have this in the sample for the Pgh RB impy stout get together?

Had this at the 2/20/16 Pittsburgh RB Gathering @ Insurrection in Heidelberg. Big thanks to my fellow ratebeerians! Big and black. Nice attractive roasty smelling beer. No head. I was expecting something kick ass for near 7% but this comes across as a gentleman from the start. The deScription of "robust American coffee porter conditioned on queen city harrar from Allegheny coffee & tea exchange in the strip" made me think it would be bitter black, but its not real bitter, just dark & roasty on the palate. Good example of a very acceptable coffee beer that us not in yer face, does not have that burnt black coffee impact. Yes, coffee is not the backbone in this brew, its more of an old damp partially burned piece of campfire wood. Nice job!

Had this draft at the 2/20/16 Pittsburgh RB Gathering @ Insurrection in Heidelberg. Big thanks to my fellow ratebeerians! Pale hazy yellow. Slight tart aroma. Initially a little bitter but that eventually subsides into that saison thang. Interesting and somewhat unique in its presentation. Yes, continually evolving. For 7.2% you better watch out, the alky apparentness is lacking and it may sneak up from behind and getcha if you have a few enjoyable glasses of this stuff! I liked this session!

Had this draft at the 2/20/16 Pittsburgh RB Gathering @ Insurrection in Heidelberg. Big thanks to my fellow ratebeerians! Nice white head on what looks to be a wit or lighter hefe. Perfectly mild attractive aroma of wheat beer. Very friendly from the start. How could this be 6%? Its stealthy in its alky attack because there is no alky attack! Very friendly wheat beer attributes on the tongue. May be listed as a wheat ale but this has a character leaning towards a friendly hefe. Must be their house yeast. Has plenty of bubblegum in there and I like that. Perhaps not as much banana as a hefe but it is soooo good. Now, on the finish I do detect an inkling of wheat beer bitterness. Nice job overall, well balanced easy going brew with a hidden ABV kick.

Had this draft at the 2/20/16 Pittsburgh RB Gathering @ Insurrection in Heidelberg. Big thanks to my fellow ratebeerians! Fresh mild inoffensive perfumy hop aroma. Not real hoppy, at least at first. However, after it lures you in it give you a shock to reality with its massively growing big bitter refreshing hoppy happiness. Easier for me to enjoy compared to the mosaic. Although it does pack a wallop for an IPA and I don’t care much for IPA, it does what it’s supposed to do. The freshness makes it come across like a pretty bitter refreshing APA.

Had this draft at the 2/20/16 Pittsburgh RB Gathering @ Insurrection in Heidelberg. Big thanks to my fellow ratebeerians! Cloudy vanilla looking thing that smells nice, fresh and clean, no hint of BO. First taste Is big freshly squeezed and tightly oily peel twisted green grapefruit rinds permeating my palate. Surprisingly I do detect some cutting co2. Long mainstream IPA bitter manifestations. What else can be said except its terribly on style. Look, I’m not a fan of IPA and I taste them cause they’re there but if you like IPA, especially a double kick ass IPA with a somewhat lighter feel, this is fer U!
