Bottle from Tony, thanks for the opportunity! Dark brown with beautiful ruby highlights. Dark sugars and butterscotch aromas dominate. Sweet burnt sugar and butterscotch flavors with lots of dark fruits. Almost non existent carbonation. Diacetyl bomb, meh.

Bottle smuggled back by Tony, thanks for the hookup. Lightly hazy deep golden color with a tiny white bubbled head that dissipates quickly. Great bready sweet pilsner malt aroma with bits of spicy hop butterscotch and pomme fruit. The flavor is heavy with diacytyl and sweet bready malt with just faint hop flavor or bitterness. Medium body, barely any carbonation. Not horrible, but not great either.

Bottle from Loco Liquor in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg, bb 30/09/13
Dark mahogany color with medium sized head. The aroma is just caramel, but it has a certain elegance. The mouthfeel is soft and round; caramel flavor with a malt backbone, nutty, moderately sweet; correct bitterness.
The single elements of this beer are rather simple, but it has been brewed with elegance and skills; a perfect, British, Half Barley Wine.

Red colour. There’s a lot of rich amber maltiness on the nose. Same palate, soft and with light juiciness.

Ruby-brown. Light caramel/dark sugar aroma. Toasty, with light fruitiness, and some juicy character. Like a strong bitter, with good balance.
