Description

In April/May 2021 Brouwerij Breugem ended its relationship with Brouwerij Hoop and moved to a new location back in Zaandam. A re-branding was implemented in October 2021, and a number of beers were given new names. Breugem Brewery will also continue as Breugem Bier. For the past few years, Breugem has been a client brewer at Brouwerij Jopen in Haarlem.

In 2023, Brouwerij De Prael Amsterdam Houthavens was taken over, making the dream of having its own brewery and tasting room come true. Part of the production continues to be brewed at Jopen Bier.

Tasted @ KBC Den Bosch ’11. Nice golden to orange colour. Smell and taste were okay, but lacking a bit. Mouthfeel was pretty watery and a bit flat. Didn’t notice the ’hoppig’ part too much.

Tasted this one at KBC Den Bosch 2011. This one was too sweet for me. It smells sweet and tastes sweet also. I could drink 1 at maximum. Sugar bomb.

I had this beer at KBC beer festival May 2011 in Den Bosch. I asked the brewer it’s ABV; it’s 5.7% Beer is indeed amber colored. Not a very good smell. Couldn’t really tell what it was, but didn’t like it and it came back in the taste as well. Palate was moderate.

On tap at the brewpub. Hazy yellow colour, white head. Aroma of citrus, wheat and butter. Flavour is light sweet, wheat, light sour citrus, butter, light citrussy finish. Light bodied. Too young I think, but without the butter it wouldn’t be great either.

On tap at the brewpub, no ABV stated, my guess would be around 5.5%. Murky amber colour, creamy off white head. Aroma of nuts, toasted malts, citrus, flowers. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, nutty, very nice citrus notes (lemon), yeast, light bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Tasty brew imo.

On tap at the brewpub, no ABV stated, but my guess would be 6%. Murky golden amber colour, white head. Aroma of sweet ripe fruits, yeast, light spicy and nutty, malts. Flavour is sweet, fruity, nutty and spicy from the yeast, nice bitterness in the finish. Light bodied. Bit homebrew-ish, but not bad.
