On tap at Vintage 3/12/12. Deep brown-black, opaque. Big beige head, steady and creamy. Big chocolate aroma. Big chocolate taste. Watery English body. Really nails the Caribbean Stout style, they’d be all over this down there. Roasty chocolate tones, but a delicate smooth backbone, a touch of lactose. Creamy, quite delicious. A pleasant surprise. Not so sessionable, but great for the style.

February 23, 2013 from Bob’s growler. Tons of caraway and lots of vegetable in the flavor, which I assume is the peat and heather, also giving it some grassy character. Yeast and grain and moderate sourness. Good. thanks Bob. I am always up for trying something new with beer, and this one works out well.

A hazed amber ale with a thin white head. In aroma, weird grassy honey with camphor and sulfur, so-so. In mouth, sweet lemony sour ale with licorice, cardamom and incense, strange. On tap at Istmus Beer and Cheese Fest, Jan 19 2012.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden amber with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has a light grassy flora note but mainly has notes of bread and rye. Flavor is mainly bread and rye throughout with a bit of crispness in the finish. Quite drinkable.

A hazed amber ale with no head. In aroma, sweet malt with fruity esters, rather strange mess. In mouth, light watery grainy malt, raspy and unpleasant. On tap at the Istmus Beer and Cheese, Jan 21 2012.
