Description
The Broad Ripple Brewpub was established in 1990 by Englishman John Hill, born in Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire, and his wife Nancy, a Hoosier native. It is Indiana’s very first brewpub (a restaurant that brews its own beer) and the oldest operating brewery in the state. The Brewpub was designed to recreate a typical English pub with its dark wood paneling, leaded stained glass windows, decorative tin ceiling, and cozy fire place. The Brewpub has one of the largest outdoor cafes in Broad Ripple Village, seating up to seventy people.

Tap at Broad Ripple. Unfiltered glowing orange tan. Thin creamy white head. Nice clove bitterness. Banana aftertaste. Sort of biting lemon touches. Kind of chunky. OK.

Tap at Broad Ripple. Unfiltered red-copper body. Creamy cask head. Leans into the amber malt and ringwood yeast. Nice cask mouthfeel, but a lackluster effort overall. Old school, just tolerable.

Cask pour, hand pump. Brown unfiltered body. Creamy steady beige head. Pretty unimpressive, the mellow cask body is about all it has going for it. Cherry coke like amber malts. Almost like a brown ale at times. Boring, bland. Caramel sugar finish.

Tap at Broad Ripple. Cascade lends a nice hoppy freshness to the aroma. A pretty tame would be White IPA. Pretty standard American Wheat, but the Cascade hops give it some depth, balance. OK.

Tap at Broad Ripple. Murky dull orange-brown body. Foamy soapy off-white head. Pretty unimpressive old school UK inspired 90s brewpub IPA. The aroma is off, or maybe it’s just the brutal Ringwood yeast. Some piny bitterness in the finish. Creamy body. Really bland. Unappetizing butterscotch tones. Meh.
