I hope you’re having a nice New Year’s Eve wherever you are! Kizakura Lucky Mouse Session IPA 5% Clear gold with a fragrant but unbalanced fruity hop aroma. Medium bodied with a scratchy carbonation and an earthy rough sweet flavor with hops that feel like they’ve been through a meat grinder. Not a beer to start a year off with. 2020 deserves better than this as whole it’s drinkable it’s one of the weakest in Kizakura’s Lucky series which isn’t all that strong in the first place.

Kizakura One for All, All for One. Amber Ale 5% Amber orange with a fat fluffy beige foam. The aroma is biscuit, caramel, herbal fruity hops. Medium bodied with a crisp finish. Bitter caramel flavor, a bit too bitter for me but it is ok.

33cl bottle from Carrefour hypermarket in Rethel, France. F: slow gusher! big, tan, good retention. C: coppery, hazy with a lot of small particles floating in. A: sweet malty, caramel, bit bready, fruity touch. T: medium malty base, toast, caramel, bit mellow fruity, dry on the palate, medium to high carbonation, not bad actually, drinkable.

Aroma liquorice mint. Taste less offensive. But boozy.

A random find at the Yodobashi supermarket(350¥): Kizakura x UCC Black Coffee Beer Hop & Roasted 5% Deep brown with a thick long lasting tan head and coffee latte aroma. Medium to light bodied and smooth with a nice coffee flavor. This is probably one of the best Kizakura beers I’ve had from them in ages...

Bottle from the Davis Food Co-op. Pours translucent gold with a transient white head. Aroma of spice and something like citrus. Med body or nearly. Flavor is dryish, lightly spicy, something like citrus/herb mix, moderately bitter. Different, but the flavor is good.

(Bottle) Wow, this pours clear deep green with a short-lived bright green head. Pleasant aroma with a mix of light toffee, hops and hints of green tea. Medium body with great carbonation. The taste is unusual and impressive. There’s plenty of hoppy bitterness from start to finish. There’s some pleasant balancing sweetness at the start, both a light malt and candy. There’s grassy vegetable notes in the start. The matcha comes through most distinctly in the finish where there is good hoppy bitterness and matcha. There’s a bit of alcohol bite towards the end too.

Bottle, thanks Mark. Aroma of blackberries, candy, booze. Taste is weird, some vegetables, some berries again. Some weirdness. Not as bad as you might imagine, but still not good...

Tap at the restaurant. Grainy and creamy. Quite crisp. Bit bland on the whole.

Tap at the brewpub. Refreshingly wheaty, bit fruity, touch of cream. Something herby. Alright
