Rich and malty, with a good hop presence and balance. Definitely British tasting. Warming and complex with dark fruit flavors and aroma, coupled with earthy and herbal hop flavors. Quite enjoyable as a winter ale.

Updated from bottle labelled Macs Ale. Darkish amber, or browny-orange color. Nice Britishy ale aroma, with hints of molasses, caramel and toffee, and a citric spicy hop. Flavor very balanced, with a medium toffee malt backbone and a lightly spicy and floral hop presence, leading to a balanced finish. Seems just a tad light on the body but otherwise a good amber. Total score of 3.4 unchanged from original rating, but I’m reversing the flavor and aroma scores, as I find this beer smells a tad better than it tastes.

Very light. Excessively so. Just a touch of honey and little else. The Belgians make the only honey beers worth drinking (Bos Keun, Dupont biere du miel)

This is an example of what I would call a really good use of fruit in a beer. The raspberries are just *barely* there, giving a hint of raspberry flavor and fruit sweetness that balances rather than overwhelmes the sourness of the basic wheat beer underneath. Very clean and refreshing. Darkish golden color, slightly cloudy, medium head - by appearances you don't see the raspberries. Slight raspberryish aroma.

Outstanding, and I'd characterize it as an interesting hybrid of an English and American pale ale. The malts/yeast are pure British: slightly fruity, very present, and with a definite mild butteriness. However, this is chock full of classic American hops: citric, piney, and a bit herbal. Outstanding balance - there's no shortage of malt flavor here, yet it reminds a hophead's delight, esp in the aroma. Nice copperish color, smallish head, short lacing.

Cloudy brown color. Bottle-conditioned? Strong malty nose, and flavor. Fairly complex, with lots of strong dark fruit flavors (plum, pruney, dates, pear?). Filling. Perhaps a bit overdone - a little restraint might turn this into a great beer.
