Portneuf Valley Brewing Co.
Brewpub
in Pocatello,
Idaho,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Portneuf Valley Brewing
Established in 1996
It took years of hard work, but in the summer of 2002 PVB began full production operations at the new site on South 1st Ave. Once the brewery was set up and functioning, work began on the rest of the main floor of the building to create a comfortable atmosphere for the pub. The amount of work needed was unbelievable. A great deal of structural work was required before crafting a suitable atmosphere befitting a brewpub (restaurant + brewery). The pub needed to be comfortable and appealing, and Penny wanted to be able to provide live entertainment suitable for the tastes of her clientele. At the same time work was being done to prepare the place for on-site consumption, the volume of beer going out the doors in kegs and growlers from the tasting room was increasing exponentially.
As Portneuf Valley Brewing's presence in the market grew, so did the staff required to keep things running smoothly. Finally, in October of 2005, the PVB opened the Pub to the public, serving wine and the full range of PVB brews by the glass as well as craft brewed sodas. Fall of 2006 saw PVB become a fully operational brewpub and has since been described as:
"A historic wood & brick brewpub featuring cozy atmosphere, award winning craft brews, globally inspired food menu & frequent-family-friendly events.”

Draft: Light golden pour with a smaller white head. Modest aroma is malty and sweet, gee just like the others... Tastes of citrus, caramel, butterscotch, and faint florals come through in the taste. Don’t sniff it, just sip it.

Draft: Pours a sharp golden orange color with a light beige head. Aroma is faint, but has the similar sweet malty profile as the other PV brews. The taste comes through better, more citrus, floral, and caramel than the aroma suggests. No real bitterness, but flavorful and a nice bodyweight.

Draft: Light amber color with a modest head. Aroma is sweet, taste is malt dominated. Not much else really. Maybe a little bready. Sort of bland.

Draft: Pours a golden color with a modest white head. Light aroma is citrus and sweet. Tastes crisp with a nice citrusy, grapefruit flavor. Gets a little more floral as it warms. Finishes clean and no real lingering bitters. Decent, but sort of mild for a strong ale.

Draft: It’s pretty much my favorite animal. It’s like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic. Medium depth golden with a small white head. Light malty aroma, faintly sweet. Flavor is completely malts, other than a light fruity (grape?) thing going on. No hop presence at all. Agree with Jordan here, body was amazingly full for this style.

At brewery. Pours a nice copper color with a white head, not much lace in the glass. Aroma was citrus and had a hint of Hazel Nut. Taste was good also with a hint of hazel nut and banana flavor. Overall this is a nice clean beer.

At brewery. Pours a gold/copper with a nice white head and plenty of lace in the glass. Aroma has citrus and hops. Taste is the same, citrus and hops. A nice clean beer leaving no aftertaste in your mouth.
