Description
In 2012 it happened that Johannes Heidenpeter, master brewer and owner of Heidenpeters, was allowed to enjoy an English porter by chance. He liked it so much that he started brewing at home, experimented a little and delighted his friends and acquaintances with great beers. The decision to open his own micro-brewery quickly grew in him. The trained artist, who graduated from the art college in Berlin, finally got to know the operators of the Markthalle Neun in Berlin-Kreuzberg and had them taste his beers. They were also immediately enthusiastic and an agreement was reached. With some borrowed money, Johannes went to work and tinkered with his own small brewery. In the meantime, Johannes Heidenpeter brews his creations on a small scale directly in the cellar of the Markthalle Neun.

Draft @ Heidenpeters, Berlin.

Purchased this at Heidenpeters, Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany Saturday 16th November 2013 consumed at home Thursday December 5th 2013 Golden with a haze and a light sediment, nice small bubble creamy white head. A light fruity nose, little bit tropical even. Soft in mouth, bitter at edges, metallic tingle (malt perhaps?) fruity in mouth, really nice. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.5

Draught at Heidenpeters’ awesome little market bar in Kreuzberg, in the company of the man himself. Brewed with 9 different hops, this is bursting with hoppy flavour; crisp and sharp with citrus and pineapple taking prominence before a cool satisfying bitterness. Mightily impressed, and good to see bottled versions now available.

Had this at Heidenpeters, Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany Saturday 16th November 2013 Dark brown in colour with off-white head. Aroma is good in fact a little bit like a Ski hazelnut yoghurt, mmhh.. really quite interesting, there is a little cereal in background. Fruity in mouth with some caramel and a nice tanginess, bit of dark fruit and cereal combine. Good. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.5

Had this at Heidenpeters, Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany Saturday 16th November 2013 Murky orange/amber with white head. Quite cold with the aroma therefore a little blunt. Wonderfully hoppy, soft in mouth, very perfumey which leads to a very floral flavour in mouth. Apparently brewed with nine hops not sure which are showing the most but it hoppy in the mouth with a gentle rasping bitterness and the floralness coming to the fore. Very, very good. Had this at Heidenpeters, Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany Saturday 16th November 2013 Pours dark brown a little hazy perhaps. Smokier tasting than smelling. Soft and quite fruity with a smokey linger interestingly the lady serving behind here has pointed out that we are actually not at the brewpub bar instead we are at her bar she just happens to serve some of his beers, good on her, she’s just told us where to walk to. This is a very tasty beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Draught and bottle. Brownish black with a tan head. Aroma is light smokey and toast. Flavor is creamy smoke, some burnt malt on a long vanilla finish. Strangely better from the bottle than on draught.
