Description
After years of talking about it as a family, the decision is taken in 2015/16 to make brewing the new family business. The family travel to various brewery manufactures and finally place an order for the system that is now in place in Kilcoole.Equipment starts arriving and the brewery is built and commissioned. Late 2017, test beers are put out at the Irish craft beer festival at the RDS. In 2018 Larkin’s formally launches into the market at the Alltech beer festival in March. Larkin’s is now distributed in pubs across Ireland as well as exporting to other markets in the EU.

Can. Clear (until last pour) deep amber body under a small, fast disappearing beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel and dry fruit. Taste is medium sweet, malt, caramel and dry fruit, slightly alcoholic. Medium body with same aftertaste ending with a slightly acidic touch. Quite straight forward but decent.

Bottle at home, from Yards & Crafts online, 04/02/23. Extremely dark mahogany brown meets light black topped with a fast collapsing khaki head. Nose is dark malts, toffee, yeast esters, dried fruits, brown bread. Taste comprises dried fruit esters, dark malts, toffee, cocoa sprinkle. Medium bodied, soft massaging carbonation, semi drying close. Decent approachable BP ... not particularly complex but has more lager like qualities than most and makes for an easy drinking affair.

Can at home. Dark black color, light brown colored head. Aroma and flavor are malts, dark malts and roasted malts. Quite one-dimensional. Meh. Don't get bourbon either. Disappointing.
