About
Bøgedal is Scandinavia’s only all-gravity brewery and is boiled over an open fire using local wood as fuel. Bøgedal’s brewing method is an attraction in itself, since the brew flows freely (all gravity), from vat to vessel, without pumping, creating different levels by use of hand-powered hoists and pulleys.

(Bottle 75 cl) Nr. 24 Very beautiful golden amber, but pretty much without head - and slightly flat too. Fruity, fresh nose - elderflower? Lime? Almost perfumy, but never excessively so, as it comes with a marked, bitter finish. Tons of caramel. The alcohol is deceivingly well hidden - but don’t be fooled, it’s definitely there. 250605

Bottled at RBESG. Amber colour. Hay aroma. Sweet, fruity and medium bodied with some fresh hops and lots of herbal character. Lingering bitter finish.

(Bottle 75 cl) Nr. 25 Deep amber colour, slightly hazy, no head - and practically no carbonation either (some of the Bøgedall beers seem to loose their fizz rather quickly). Distinct, sweet caramel notes and a nice malty body, even malt in the finish. Slightly smoked notes. Almost no bitterness. I don’t hope this was how it was supposed to be. 180605

(Bottle 75 cl) So far the strongest, palest and most bitter brew from Bøgedal. Dark, deep amber colour with a smallish head. Hazy with a bottle sediment. Lots of fullness in the body, malty sweetness, but I find the bitter hops way too dominating. I’d rather prefer some aroma hops. But this beer has the potential to develop into a lot more. 050105

(Bottle 75 cl) Very, dark brown, hazy ale with a small, light brown head. Low in carbonation, but not exactly flat. Loads of delicious fruit esters (again) both in aroma and flavours. Very malty and sweetish with only a discreet bitterness. Very strongly Belgian inspired. Brewmaster Casper Vorting claims this to be his attempt at a Christmas beer. 040105

(Bottle 75 cl) Reddish, hazy amber colour. Good carbonation. Botle sediment. Again some fruity esters, but in this one I don’t sense berries - I get melon notes? Incredibly lovely flavours of roasted malts and spices (none added though - this is a pure malt thing). Solid body reminding me of an Abbey Dubbel - almost - hasn’t really got the colour. Sweetish in perfect balance and harmony with the hops. Alcohol is scaringly well hidden. So far the best Bøgedal - this is great. 291204

(Bottle 75 cl) Hazy, amber coloured beer. Very small head and you don’t get much sound when you remove the cork. Appears slightly flat when poured - but does have some carbonation. Oddly this has the same berry notes as "Nr. 14". Maybe it’s the yeasty esters as brewmaster Casper Vorting doesn’t use any fruit additions. Some residual sweetness and lightly smoked notes. Sediment at the bottom. 291204

(Bottle 75 cl) A beer which by appearance and aroma appears bigger than the flavours you get when you taste it. Very dark, almost black with a handsome, beige and rather stable head. Heavy carbonation. Fresh berry-like nose - almost vinous - like desert wine. Blackberries? Very dry body with and equally dry bitterness partly from the burned (but not smoked) malts. Bottle, RBESG 2005 Grand Tasting. XO cognac coloured. Aroma of oak and dried fruits, some peppery notes too. Flavour is a bit oaky with low bitterness, a bit thin mouthfeel. Relatively dry.

Hazy brown, sweet diacetylic nose. Grassy, some malts, maybe hints of chocolate. Quite boring brew.
