Description
The site was acquired by Watneys in 1889 and, through a series of mergers and takeovers, the brewery came to be owned by InBev UK. Latterly the brewery has only produced Budweiser barnded beer for the UK market. Plans to close the brewery were announced in 2010 but subsequently postponed until the end of 2015. Some equipment was relocated to Magor in 2014 and all production of Budweiser is expected to move there in due course. Finally closed in late 2015.

Bottled(568ml). -bought somewhere in London.
Clear golden coloured, small white head, malty lemony nose. The taste is very weak and watery, slight sweet malty with notes of cereals and nothing else. Notes of caramel in the finish.

A pint bottle shared with and courtesy of ozujsko, who brought it from London (thanks!) Oh lookie, my first Bud and it’s not the regular thing nor is it brewed in the USA. Poured a nice orange-golden colour with a very big fluffy white chem head that went away at a medium pace. The nose is sour, lemony and a touch of malt. Three sour smelling crappy pale lagers in a row. Lovely. This one turned out to be the worst of the bunch. The taste is weak, dull, watery, weak apple, weak background hop bitterness, maybe malt, plastic... As pathetic as I thought it’d be. Few redeeming features. Not particularly drinkable, even less enjoyable. The commercial description makes things even funnier. Apparently brewed for a fuller flavour and a clean finish. The finish isn’t clean and the taste could be called full only by someone certifiable. Not the worst beer I’ve ever had, but all in all, a failure.
