Bottle at a private tasting in Rome-Italy, with daniele and Mortlach. Clear orange pour, little lacing. Nose: traces of butter, mild fruitiness. Mouth: sweet malts, fruit, not terrific.

Bottle, 330 ml at Pivopija, NBGD. Pours black with small beige head. Some coffee in aroma, some chocolate notes, quite acidic, most likely infected. Looking at the rates and judging from what I’ve heard in bars this seems to be common problem with this brew.

Bottle, 330 ml at Pivopija, NBGD. Pours hazy golden, small white head. Malty, grainy, corny, cardboard. Sweet. Light bodied. Reminded me of Karlovacko which can’t be good.

A rerate less than a month later, a 0.33 l bottle. Just to note, all three Paunovic beers rerated were problem free this time, while all of them had issues on the Mostar festival. I hope now it’s been sorted out for good.
This bottle poured the same nice, almost black body, now even more beautiful with medium to big brown head. Aroma was light, weak coffee, some chocolate and dark fruits. Now that’s something! Flavor was lightly sweet, especially at first, with coffee, chocolate and licorice quickly overtaken by lemony sourness that did add some bitterness and woody, earthy notes to the finish, but with very high carbonation, also got stronger than needed and prolonged unwanted notes in the finish, overtaking fine notes. At the festival I mistakenly paired that with foul aroma, although it surely was a combined problem. Needed to aerate to get fully drinkable, but the problem persisted. Now I understand why some brewers insist on lower carbonation for this style. Anyhow, I’ll conclude as in my original rating - this stout has potential. 7/4/6/3/12=3.2
Jul. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle at the second BiH Craft Beer Festival, Mostar. It poured a hazy dark, almost black brown body with a small full brown head. Harsh oxidized aroma, a little phenolic, too, yielding a palette of these scents. Some coffee hidden below. Flavor was decent, much less problematic with coffee, some cocoa, wood and licorice. Medium bodied with moderately long, lightly tart, sour and sweet finish. I guess it would be a very nice balance of the roasted malts if turned out correctly. I see a general problem with the microbrewery where this is made and they should definitely sort it out soon. This stout has potential. 3/3/6/3/11=2.6

Rerate Aug. ’16. from a 0.33 l bottle as well that poured a hazy yellow body with medium sized head. Same aroma - honey, lightly grainy with light herbal hops. Flavor wasn’t infected this time, sweet, without any sourness, just honey and biscuit malts with decent fruity notes, sugary even in the finish rounding it up finely with a fruity, citrus and apricot notes so it seemed like a blond ale. Vague bitterness in the aftertaste, more alike to craft ales again. True, nowhere near typical pils, however, this was the intent of the brewer. Could be named lager though to avoid misleading expectations. Fine anyway and I’m glad I tried it problem-free this time!
Jul. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle at the second BiH Craft Beer Festival, Mostar. It poured a hazy yellow body with medium sized head. Aroma of sweet lager malts like honey and some grain, yeast, with a touch of grassy hops maybe. Pleasant sweetish flavor, malt dominated and quite yeasty with a little sour off note which went beyond that typical microbrew unpasteurized sourness, even more notably infected with vegetables here and there. Medium in body with shorter grainy and honey sweetish finish. Not really a pils, some hops would come in handy here. Still drinkable and quite fine. Hope to see it improved in the future. 5/3/5/3/11=2.7

Jul. ’16. On tap at the second BiH Craft Beer Festival, Mostar. It poured a hazy orange body with a small head. Quite fruity malt aroma, sweet pale fruits, with just a little bit of herbal and citrus hops blended in finely. Unfortunately, a bit phenolic. Flavor was very lightly bitter, almost with a comparably strong malty component. Thinner to medium in body with medium, lightly bitter paper/herbal dry and fruity malty finish. Okay, but not impressive.

Bottle shared in Rome-Italy at Mad for Beer pub. Black color, little brownish foam. Funk, roasted far away, not really in style, confusing. We could not go further in drinking it. Bummer, label was cool. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
