Innovative, promising and high-quality microbrewery. This are the significant words that describe our young team of Green Gold Brewing from Savinja Valley in the heart of Slovenia. And if you ask us about our distinctive characteristic, we would definitely say that there is something about the place where we live, breath and work. Why so? Our hometown is one of the most significant Slovenian (and also European) hop regions – therefore we had no choice but to brew the best beer.
Just like every successful story, ours started in the garage of today’s Green Gold Brewing. From the very beginning, owner Luka Rojnik strives for beer not only to be a drink but a surplus with amazing superpowers. In our beers, the Slovenian tradition and years of brewing experiences are intertwined by Luka’s accumulation of different acknowl- edges throughout the world.

Can, 0.33l. Aroma of wet grass, overripe fruit, bubblegum, flowers and weird tropical diarrhea thunder mix sniffed directly from can. Luckily that smell totally mellows when poured into a glass. Pours hazy pale golden color with thin soapy off-white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts light sweet and sour grainy and yeasty with rubbery and tropical fruity following, mouthfeel is quite spicy, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Definitely has got typical Wolf’s characteristics, but my nostrils can’t forget that weird can aroma that partially reminds me of smelly baby diapers. On the other hand tastes fine...

Can, 0.33l. Aroma of pineapple, melon, pine, biscuit and bubblegum. Pours cloudy dark amber color with thin creamy tan-like head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts medium sweet malty and refreshing fruity, following is resinous with bubblegum note, mouthfeel is very smoothly rounded by oat flakes and mild spicy on the other hand, while finish is medium bitter. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate. Tasty space oddity...

Can, 0.33l. Aroma of cereals, mango, peach and pine. Pours murky dirty yellow color with large frothy white head and sparkling appearance. Taste starts light sweet citrusy with evident mango note, following is biscuity, grassy, earthy and rubbery, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is mild to medium bitter. Light body, thin creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. It’s refreshing, it’s thirst quenching, it’s not bad, but I don’t mind, if this one becomes forbidden as it’s quite boring...

Can, 0.33l. Hazy copper pour, thin soapy layer on top. Short lasting, no lacing. Not much of a looker, this one. Nose, on the other hand, quite solid. Lots of grainy, herbal grassy notes paired with mild citrus and caramel in the background. Thin to medium body, soft carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel, oily texture. Medium to high bitterness with mild caramel sweetness, nicely balanced brew. Aroma is also quite nice, first you get caramel malt paired with obvious alcohol presence. Then, hops kick in. Grassy, grainy and herbal. Tropical fruits, citruses, hints of pineapple. Orange peel. Lingering bitterness, a bit coming from hops, a bit from alcohol. Also quite dry and a bit peppery. Pretty good brew. Tasty.

Taste starts light sweet grainy and biscuity, following is citrusy with gentle touch of tropical fruit, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is mild bitter. Can, 0.33l. Aroma of herbs, flowers, honey, orange, melon and cereals. Pours hazy pale golden color with thin creamy off-white head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts light sweet and slightly sour fruity and floral, follows by toasted malt and rubber, while finish is medium grassy bitter. Light to medium body, creamy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Interesting Cardinal, certainly not for everyone, but I kinda’ like it. Don’t know why, but it reminds me of a countryside’s freshly manured fields, although no such aromas detected...

On tap at Lajbah, Ljubljana. Pours pitch black, topped with a thin beige ring. Chocolate nose with some soury fruity (berry) character, later on some more noticeable woody notes. Taste follows likewise. Some roastiness, gentle chocolate and soem cherries (griotte feel). Gentle bitterness. Lasting aftertaste. Silky and not so full. Alcohol slightly warming, not burning.

On tap at Lajbah, Ljubljana. Pours pitch black, just a tiny little rim of beige head. Pleasant and easy to note chocolate and cocoa nose with some rum and wood from the back, some roastiness but gentle - calming nose. Mildly roasted start, some chocolate sweetness and dry fruitiness, a bit more notable blackcurrant feel as well. Silky, medium full bodied. Alcohol is very nicely hidden, just slightly warming with slight burn in the last sip - but in a good way. Nice one, very easy to drink.

On tap at Krigl [Beer Mug], Slovenske Konjice, Slovenia. Distinct mango, mango puree, moderately hoppy, citrusy, zesty note, some tropical fruit, some resin. Malts underneath. Nicely balanced, hoppy, low bitterness, malted wheat, fruit, lemony tart finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation, quite smooth. Very nice.
