Bottle received as extra in trade. Thank you stoutnick! Pours hazy caramel brown with no head worth mentioning. Smell is sweet and malty with caramel, toffee, raisins, prunes, leather, hay, charred wood, vanilla fudge, grape juice, alcohol and caramelized almonds. Taste is sweet, slightly bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, cocoa powder, honey, alcohol, vanilla fudge, raisins in rum, prunes, dates, alcohol, grape juice, hay, charred wood and toasted coconut. Mouthfeel is round, sticky sweet, boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet, tiny bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, charred wood, hay, vanilla fudge, raisins in rum, prunes, hay and sweet dark bread. Almost over the top tasty malt bomb!

Bottle 33 cl thanks to jduvet! On June 24, 2014.Cloudy yellow to apricot skin color, small white head. Sweet, alcohol, fruity, some banana scent. Melon, yeast, fruity, some clove taste. Clove, yeasty aftertaste. Very fizzy mouthfeel, very low bitterness.The scent and taste are very different, the melon taste would do better without the strong yeast character present. Very very very fizzy mouthfeel, detracts a lot from the perception of the beer.

33 cl bottle @ Vastarannan Kiiski. Aroma is sour with bretta, white wine and earthy tones. Flavour is somewhat tart and sour with white wine, bretta, some earthy notes and grapefruit. Finishes with some cherry juice and hints of porter-like roastiness. Unusual but nice. Quite straightforward considering the name and ABV.

Pours dark amber with a large, lasting mousse-like head.Nose shows lovely sweet clean malt with a cookie dough-like hint, musk sticks, fruity confectionery and mango/paw paw/rockmelon. Lovely.Toned down flavours, some sweet clean malt, grapefruit, pine and bready notes leading to an aggressive sharp bitterness.Carbonation is a bit over the top.

From a 375ml bottle on 10/5/2014. Pours not far off black with a small dark tan head. Has a very pleasant aroma of caramel, chocolate, vanilla, cognac, dough and a dash of coffee. The Flavours are huge with sweet milk chocolate and caramel most prominent. This is joined by quite a bit of soy, some vanilla, wood, prunes, cognac and a touch of honey. There’s some roasty bitterness at the back but the sweetness prevails here - it’s a real dessert job. Whilst there’s certainly some cognac and booze present, it’s actually super easy drinking for something that’s over 15%. The palate approaches sticky and the carbonation is quite lively for an impy. Damn this is one impressive and enjoyable brew - definitely the best Moon Dog I’ve had to date. And it’s an ode to the Fonz, who appears on the label. I give it the big thumbs up and an ’ayyyy’.

From a 330ml bottle on 7/5/2014. Pours a cloudy dark golden with a big foamy white head. Has a slightly odd, sweet, fruity, yeasty aroma, with some bubblegum in the mix. Take a sip and it’s the malt that holds sway, with lots of bread and some caramel. Some sweet citrus fruit follows, along with a medium spicy bitterness. Has a fullish body and is a touch over-carbed. This is a bit of a strange beast - I wouldn’t really pick it as an IPA blind, as it barely resembles the typical US style. There’s more malt than hops here, notwithstanding the spicy kick at the end (there is perhaps a hint of a rye IPA there). The body is fullish and it’s perhaps just a touch over-carbed. I actually quite enjoyed it after my initial puzzlement, but real hop heads may be a bit disappointed.The monkey on the label is pretty cool though.

From a 330ml bottle on 27/3/2014. Pours the darkest brown with a huge tan head. Cherry and a bit of chocolate feature in the aroma. Flavour wise, there’s a lot going on, with milk chocolate most prominent, along with caramel, dark fruit, licorice, nuts, and smoked meat, followed by a light bitterness. The chilli is quite noticeable at the back, but it’s never too much, and provides a nice contrast to the initial sweetness. The body is creamy and the carbonation lively. This is an unusual brew but well worth a try if you like a beer with a touch of heat.

Bottle, 8C. Amber with a white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, spices, bread crusts.A little soapy. Sweet bread crusts, lots of pine, kumquat, grapefruit, spices. Doesn’t dry out all that much, bitterness and zesty aromatics struggle to break through the sweetness a bit, although not so much as the first I tried which was not so cold. Solid.
