Description
At Moon Dog we love crafting bloody delicious beers that are fun and a little bit different. We've been doing it since 2010 at our rad brewery in the backstreets of inner Melbourne’s Abbotsford. Over the years we’ve grown a heap, adding our tropical brewery bar paradise, the ballroom oasis function space, and a freakin' big fancy production brewery to keep more delicious beers flowing. We’re a proudly independent, Australian owned craft brewery, still run by the same guys that started it all those years ago.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of maneliquor. Pours a hazy yellow with a dense and frothy shaving foam style head leaving quite some lacework. Very funky, Bretty nose with some fruity hops up there. Rich body, solid malt base, again massive funky Brett, slightly tart and a shitload of hops. Not so much Cognac though - I guess the barrel aging all turned into Brett! Nothing like what I expectec, but quite interesting indeed. 030612

Pours pale straw with a large head.Nose shows funky brett notes, very soft guava, gooseberries, lemon. Not particularly interesting.A little more guava is noticeable as a flavour, mostly as an underlying sweetness amidst the brett and very faint acidity.Carbonation is a bit full on.

Bottle. Hazy yellow with a large souffle-like white head that lasts well. Very high bead. Aroma is barnyardy with complex citrus and tropical fruit. Light-bodied with a little slickness. Sweet lemon pudding, wheaty tartness, grapefruit, lime-leaf, white pepper, a little detergent. Little if any bitterness. Very refreshing with some interesting things going on.

Tap at GABS. Orange amber with a small white head. Aroma of sour peach, foetid mango, Dubbin (!). Sweet and sour taste is earthy with fruit stones, mango (verging on durian), toffee. Slightly slick mouthfeel, woody finish. I don’t like mango enough to love this. [3.3] Tiny growler. All the fruit, no boot polish. Mango is tamer, sour peach is lovely. Light bodied, no slickness. Woody and quite peppery at the end, with some pineapple-like acid. Enjoyed this much more this time.

Pours pale straw with a small head.Nose shows funky horse-blanket, soft watermelon and faint lemon. The watermelon is much more noticeable as a flavour in a confectionery sort of way, along with doughy wheat much later.Too much carbonation.

Bottle, 6C. Hazy yellow with a few clumps and a small but well-retained white head. Aroma of guava and plenty of the barnyard, some puke and rotting flesh. Quite confronting - the sort of smell tropical fruits or washed rind cheeses have that you might decide you don’t mind after you’ve dared to taste them. Taste is tart and dry with a strong wheaty tang. There’s some fruit lurking underneath too, but I don’t know that I would have picked it as guava. Highish carbonation in a light body with some kefir-like mouthfeel. Refreshing. Unlike the watermelon one, this is out there. [3.6] Hazy yellow with a large white head that lasts and leaves sheets of lacing in La Trappe glass. Aroma is not confronting like before, separating into clear fruit and sour wheat/ lemon/ vanilla. Creamy and slippery mouthfeel. Very dry at the end with moderate tartness that lingers.

From a 330ml bottle on 13/4/2012. Pours a slightly cloudy light straw colour with a biggish white head that disappears quickly. There’s a bit of banana and melon in the aroma but not much else. Flavour wise, its very sweet with some bubblegum, banana and some watermelon. Unfortunately, it offers nothing in the way of balance. Comes across as a muted soft drink. The carbonation is quite high. Good packaging but an ordinary beer.

Caramel, banana, phenols, and Belgian yeast. Sweet sugary nose with raisins and some diacetyl. Interesting for sure, and pleasant, though a bit out of whack.

Bottle. Hazy pale orange with an inch of white head. High carbonation. Aroma of spices, citrus and wheat with fruity notes I would have guessed as berries blind. Taste is barely sweet at first with spices and some tartness, then watermelon comes roaring through at the end. After a while the melon gives way to spices. Dry finish. Pretty good.
