Cask conditioned at The Quakerhouse, Darlington. ABV is 5.0%. Very dark ruby colour, nearly black. Moderate tan head. Roasty aroma, notes of dark chocolate. I expected an "Irish" dry stout, but the flavour is surprisingly sweet and sugary. The mouthfeel is not very rich though. Roasty notes, black sweetened coffee, some chocolate.

Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 28/9/07. Amber bitter with a slight white head. Aroma was a bit sweet and fruity. The flavour had plenty of sweet malt before a decent dry finish. Good.

Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Reddish chestnut with a beige head; a slightly sour aroma; very much like a dry stout when first tasted, but developing cimplex fruity flavours, leading to a dry, smoky, licorice finish.
