50 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a dense, lasting and white head. Mild banana fruity note in the aroma. Flavour is medium sweet with a light mix of wheaty fruity and yeasty note mixed with an underlying sweetness. Doesn’t show the standard dry wheaty notes. Mild acidic and fruity finish. Certainly drinkable for me.

(3/17/08) Bottle at De Wildeman in Amsterdam. Clear amber with a collapsing small white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and some toastiness. Sweet toasted malt flavor with a bit of nuts, some caramel and some hops in the finish. Medium-bodied. Very nice.

bottle labelled Zimbus Drachenblut, thanks to Bochum. Clear amber colour with a red touch. Full-bodied, spicy and malty with hints of vegetables. Herbal hops, especially in the finish.

Bottle (333ml): Pale golden, smaller lacy white head; quite dry grassy-hoppy aromas, a bit sourish, backed by sweetish pale malt; light bodied, dry bitter flavour; a bit lingering, a bit aromatic, a bit watery hoppy pale-malty finish. Quite decent, but weak by franconian standards..........

Bottle: pale golden coloured, thin, but long-lasting lacing head; sweet-malty and aromatic hoppy aroma; quite dry, moderate bitter flavour, supported by a delicate malty body, soft MF; dry aromatic-bitter finish with the quiet sound of sweet-malt bachstage. Buttenheim is not very far from the bohemian border..........

(33cl bottle) Clear, pale golden colour with a mid-sized foamy white head. Grassy hoppy nose with notes of sour-dough and a soft, slightly grainy malty sweetness. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied and crispy on the tongue. Minimal grainy malty base with grassy and herbal notes; dry and moderately bitter grassy hoppy finish. Not overly aromatic nor balanced but still pretty drinkable (19.03.08).

Moderately bitter flavour, medium to light body, crispy carbonated mouthfeel. Elegant malty base with rounded herbal hops; dry and aromatic hop bitter finish. Well-done Pilsener from Franconia.

Big brown lasting head with a coarse froth on top. Deep dark red barely translucent body. Fruity syrupy malty aroma with earthy hoppy notes as well as traces of alcohol. Sweet earthy licorice taste, surprisingly faint when cold, but improves as the beer warms. Develops a malty alcoholic bite when warmer. Clean, harmonic palate. Very dry grassy hoppy aftertaste with earthy licorice notes. Really nice, and extremely clean. (0.5l bottle at Cardinal.)

50 cL bottle. Pours yellow, almost clear, with a lacing white head. Mild malty and slight hoppy aroma, slight oldish in aroma. Flavour is almost breadish malty and medium sweet. Finish holds a bit of bitterness but mainly more of the same malty/breadish note.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 7.3%. Colour somewhere between mahogany and black, large and lasting beige head. Moderate but nice aroma of roasted malts and bakery, hints of oak and leather. Very malty and well rounded flavour, medium sweet, notes of mild coffee and black bread. Moderate but sufficient hops, fairly smooth and easy to drink for a 7.3% beer. Nice one!
