Blonde ale hopped with Columbus and Hallertau and, perhaps more importantly in this case, spiced with green peppercorns and coriander. Thanks to Marie & Christophe! Snow white, moussy, medium thick, stable head, hazy yellow golden robe with visible sparkling, turning into a murky beige in the end. Aroma of cucumber peel or indeed fresh (not preserved) green peppercorns, a truckload of coriander seed, raw turnip, bread crust, dried green onion, withering field flowers, wet grass, leek. Fruity onset, banana peel, green pear and cucumber peel notes, lightly sourish and moderately sweet, lively carbonated in a fine-bubbled way; bready, cracker-like malt middle, a tad powdery in the end due to the dead yeast, with grainy core, softly bittered by floral, subtly oniony and weedy hoppiness and strongly spiced by coriander with soapy effect - overpowering even the green peppercorns. Lingering coriander and floral hop bitterness along with some estery fruitiness. Interesting concept, but in need of more technical perfection: with less yeastiness and far less coriander, this could be a much more appealing creation. Still, a nice and easily drinkable, quite distinct Belgian 'kruidenbier' of sorts - but why it bears the confusing name 'La Wiener' I cannot say. Perhaps Wiener malt was used, but probably only in very small portions if that were the case - with the actual Wiener beer style it bears no resemblance whatsoever.

33cl bottle from Carrefour market LA CHASSE (BRUSSEL). F: medium, white, good retention. C: pale gold, light hazy with yeasty debris. A: malty, fruity, floral-spicy, bit banana, apples, bready. T: malty, red apples, banana, bready, bit spicy, bit different hops beside WARRIOR (CASCADE / AHTANUM) than in Trois Tilleuls, high bit disturbing carbonation, ok, enjoyed but nothing memorable.

Very good, stable, just yellowish head, very regular over almost fully clear, metallic golden beer. Vanilla, hops, dust, some meaty esters. Bit dull nose. Metallic flavours, sweetish pale malts, again some vanilla, and again meaty ester. Musk, and gradually going more bitter. Finish reaches some balance between the hops and the malt. Bit (hopoil?)slick, well carbonated. In the end not half bad, but I'm not going to rave over it any time soon, tichkes! Txs to Stef!

Towering yellow-cream head, very dense & fine, irregular and lacey, over fully hazy brown beer. "Hot" , coloured malts, wood, liquorice, some chocolate. Huge head seriously hampers nasal perception. Warming up a bit, steamed carrots. Liquorice, chocolate, wood. Dry, very little sweetness. Coloured malts, other grains - oats in particular. Creamy MF, enhanced by the stable head. Medium body in feel, good carbonation. Not bad, this one. One of the not that many, where the oats really are beneficial in all aspects. Thx to Stef!

Bouteille 33cl, BB 05/05/2024.
