Tap at CBL 2018. I was told this is a Belgian IPA made with Barbe Rouge but the opaque light gold cooor with crackers Pilsner malt has me a bit doubtful. Medium bodied with chewy maltiness and you do get some sharp sweet berry in the finish but I mostly get grains. A good summer beer, quite dry and crisp but not what I was expecting. Tap at Craft Beer Live. A wheaty spicy saison aroma. Medium bodied and smooth. The taste has spicy wheat, cloves, lemon, and yeasty esthers. Solid. 3.5-6

Tap at CBL 2017, first beer of the day. Orange gold with a big fruity aroma. The beer has a medium body crackery malts and a juicy fruity tropical hoppiness. Really good brew.

Tap at Kyoto Fest 2017. Nose is nice. Orange, grapefruit, tropical fruits, pepper, biscuity malt. Hazy orange color. Fruity and slightly sweet, full and smooth, good fruit and a peppery finish. Akashi is really doing well in this new territory lately.

Tap at Takumiya. Bright, fruit nose, lemon, Belgian yeast, wheaty biscuits, and some peaches. Shiny, cloudy gold with lace. wheaty, biscuity flavor, some honey, estery stone fruits, faint notes of pineapple. Full but dry in the end. Very well done surprise from this brewery known for their German styles.

Unlabeled bottle from the brewer. Huge hop nose, dank, tropical, stone and citrus fruits. Wow, some cat piss too. Cloudy gold with a fine bubbly head. Mosaic and Citra, I would guess. Great hop flavor, crisp, metallic, bitter and dank. Lovely. Very crisp and nice. A great IPL that is super dry and fabulously hoppy. Seems 3 months time has mellowed it very well. Just a tad too bitter, but excellent.

Bottle from the brewery, side by side with Kaigan Beer and Kobe Beer, their other pilsners. More of a herbal nose than the others, light vegetables, dryer, with leaner malt. Very clear golden color. Flavor is lemon, light crackery malt, not biscuits, dry finish. Ok but the cleanest and simplest of the three, rather bland.

Bottle from the brewery, side by side with Kaigan Beer and Meriken Beer, their other pilsners. Nose of minerals and herbs, light lemon and orange, not all that fragrant. Deep gold, lightly hazy. Light biscuit malt, pepper and herbs, a bit of tropical fruit. Quite bitter finish. Fruitiest and driest of the three.

On tap at the Akashi booth at Craft Beer Live 2016. Deep brassy gold with a thick head. The aroma is peppery citrus and crisp light malts. The taste is the same. Very light, effervescent and dry. Good stuff but the bitterness got a bit harsh after awhile. Pretty good though.

Sample set at the brewery. Brown A matte brown with a filmy light beige head. A mild nutty caramel aroma. Light bodied with a chalky bitter finish. The taste is caramel, some fudge/butterscotch and slightly nutty. Kind of alt like in my book but they said it is different.
