Description
Founded by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner, Stone Brewing has come a long way since opening in San Diego County in 1996. Now the ninth-largest craft brewer in the U.S., we operate brewing facilities on both coasts – Escondido, California and Richmond, Virginia. On top of making badass beers for over two decades, we operate restaurants and tap rooms across three continents as well as the largest craft-centric beer distribution business in the U.S. Our beers are available in all 50 states and more than 40 countries worldwide.
Stone Brewing was bought in 2022 by Sapporo Brewing (Japan) and in 2026 by Duvel Moortgat (Belgium).

From a 3$ can pour is off pale and of course, hazy. Big off fresh IPA hop perfume aroma. Seems aged if I go by the nose. Date code is 5/2025. Quite terribly on style taste from the get go. I guess my taste buds will never mature enough to like this style. Yes, nasty bitter chewing on green grapefruit rinds that are partially rotted and fermenting. Maybe mix in a little diesel too, hehehhh. Mouthcoating mendacious maladroit. Thankfully I can tolerate IPAs enough to do a tick without gagging, but at times, I must admit, there have been some close call! I guess this is a good example of what this style really should taste like. There, you have it. Blah blah blah tikky tersed tokky tiresome blah.

12 ounce can. Hazy yellow gold pour. Pillowy white head. Spotty lacing. Perfumy citrus fruit aroma. Flavor upfront is sweet, juicy citrus. Notes of orange, grapefruit and pineapple. Some peppery, piney notes on backend. Northeast meets West Coast. They become good friends.

Almost perfect for me, I love this uncommon style of black ipa, rich, subtle dosis of roasty malt, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and the hop, subtle bitterness, full of aromas, a real pleasure in the mouth after a sunny day at the swimming pool, 29.05.23, at Epalinges.

I think that this IPA is really good, with personality, malt, side of peach, excellent bitterness, the perfect mix that you could expect, 15.02.2017.

Trying this bottle, late at night with my wife after a beautiful afternoon with my son at Sauvabelin. Solid ipa, juicy, fruity, resinous note, bitter, citrus, floral and aromatic, well balanced, rather a classical ipa, 29.09.23, at Epalinges.

From Amstein, St-Légier. Tasting and opening this bottle yesterday, at home, after the meal, as the bottle says: the glory of the hop and it was a full dedicated ipa for this flower. Rather a old school ipa, dry malt, mineral, resinous, note of pineapple, 16.11.24, at Epalinges.

Just beautiful, a manet painting, orange/mandarine body, so hoppy, so citrus, so powerful in the tongue, a piece of art this can, 18.09.18 at the ex comptoir Lausanne, it was the last year of this event, unfortunately. It was a really nice moment in family and after this beer, a big stress because my son ate too many bread and we had to push this bread out of the throat.
