Description
Founded by Greg Koch and Steve Wagner, Stone Brewing has come a long way since opening in San Diego County in 1996. Now the ninth-largest craft brewer in the U.S., we operate brewing facilities on both coasts – Escondido, California and Richmond, Virginia. On top of making badass beers for over two decades, we operate restaurants and tap rooms across three continents as well as the largest craft-centric beer distribution business in the U.S. Our beers are available in all 50 states and more than 40 countries worldwide.
Stone Brewing was bought in 2022 by Sapporo Brewing (Japan) and in 2026 by Duvel Moortgat (Belgium).

Bottle coming from Amstein, St-Légier. Opening this bottle yesterday, for the lunch time. Good Belgian wheat ale, really smooth and malty for the style, fruity, Bergamot, spicy, hint of orange peel, bitter, yeasty, full body, 16.11.24

Feels like a compromise between a craft pale lager and a pils to please the non-craft crowd, but still very drinkable. Cracker malt and notes of apple and lemon and sweet grain, followed by a clean floral bitterness on the finish. Lacks the punchiness you’d expect from something with the Stone name on it but not bad.

12 oz. can, from the can at the Great Sand Dunes NP. Apricot, light gentian, light grass clippings, and nutmeg. Sweet and oddly zesty, with a fair, musty bitterness. Light to medium body, pulpy, and a bit acidic. Pretty nice and refreshing.

Medium amber and bright. Expressive minty, stone fruit and grapefruit aroma. Sweet, even creamy body with medium bitterness. Decent balance.

Dark brown, thin head. Kind of a vanilla and buttery aroma. Yeah, big miss with artificial vanilla clashing harshly with bitter porter that isn’t actually that smokey. Jesus this is actually a mess.

It is a classical stout, powerful but having swwet notes: roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, milky, not that sweet and a bit mineral, good!!!! 23.11.17, at Prélaz.

5oz pour at the main Stone brewery on Easter Monday, 6th April 2026. Heavy day walking around the San Diego Safari Park in the heat, eight 5oz pours helped to take the pressure off my feet, this being one of the last to be drank. Clean golden body, white crown on top. Coffee like nose, some chocolate too, taste a strange combination of flavours, the afore mentioned coffee and chocolate, but with a lactose slickness and a slight sweetness, different for sure.

5oz pour at the brewery on Easter Monday, after a day walking around the San Diego Safari Park in the heat! This was one of the eight 5oz samples I tried during the session. Clean and clear golden amber body, white crust on top. Earthy, citrusy and dank, didn't really take to it, most likely the least enjoyable beer I had.
