On tap at Tokyo Aleworks - Yurakucho, pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out soft earthy hop and piney hops, backed by biscuity malt. Flavour is seltzery, with bitter citrus and crisp biscuity malt. There's maybe a trace of butter in there too. Carb is too high. Not happy with this one.

On tap at Tokyo Aleworks - Yurakucho, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is harsh, with intense bourbon, woody char, some iodine, and a little roast. Flavour is pretty much the same, with intense bourbon and woody char, a thin roasted malt base, some iodine, some black liquorice, and bitterness. Like with almost all BA impies I've had in Japan, there is little harmony here: brutal barrels, with a deficient base beer. Not a disaster but this needs some serious finessing.

6.4/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 6 Flavor 6 Texture 6 Overall 6.5
On tap at Tokyo Aleworks - Yurakucho, pours a hazy dark copper amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is somewhat herbal, somewhat spicy in the hop department, with gentle earthiness and bready malt. Flavour has a herbal hop character as well, with lots of spicy rye, big earthiness, and a massive bready malt base. To herbal in hop expression. Not bad but needs better hop expression.

4.2/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 5 Flavor 3 Texture 4 Overall 4
On tap at Tokyo Aleworks - Yurakucho, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Nose is fairly restrained, with subtle earthy hops and a crisp biscuity malt base. Flavour is rather vegetal, with celery-like notes, earthiness, and biscuity malt. That's just not a well-made beer. Too vegetal. Ugh.

On tap at Tokyo Aleworks - Yurakucho, pours a hazy bright orange amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, light pine, and bready caramel. Flavour is malty, with lots of bready caramel, resinous hops, and bitter grapefruit rinds. A bit too malty for my tastes but decently made. Pleasant.

On tap at Titans (Tokyo), pours a hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malt, toasted caramel, and gentle English hops. Flavour is gently sweet, with bready malt, dry toasted caramel and minimal hops. A bit thin and lacking cohesion but reasonably constructed.

On tap at Popeye, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out robust piney hops, resins, and a thin biscuity malt base. Flavour is robust, with a big, clean piney hop character, resins, and a thin, lightly sweet biscuity malt base. Assertively hopped and beautifully balanced. What a hop expression. Excellent.

Floral mostly. Tastes kind of like a Belgian golden. Light sweet finish. Just perfumey. Bottle.

TAW Boku Beer Kimi Beer BA Imperial Stout 9.5% 62 IBU Deep inky black with a pale beige foam. Black licorice aroma with smooth chocolate malts. Nice full smooth body. Prominent black licorice but then smooth chocolate malts. Nice roast cocoa notes. For me it’s just ok but if you like black licorice you’ll love this.
