Crystal clear light golden coloured body with a very thick, five to six centimetre tall tan and golden head on top that fades very slowly. Aroma of crisp grain, lemons and citrus, a dash of metal and astringency with some clean malt, yeast and breadiness, but interestingly enough - not much hops, alcohol or sugars in the nose - how can that be possible? Medium-bodied; Very deep metallic astringency at first that has some alcohol burn and a dash of floral aspects as well, with a slight herbal bite and finally some of the hop flavour notes come out and leave a bit of bitterness at the end, but again, interestingly - no real malt body or sweetness here. Aftertaste is fairly clean, especially for the style - some nice depth in the dry side of things and the light bitterness and astringency, but the hops are minimal as well as sweetness and there is no fruits here at all. Overall, all things considered, definitely not what I was expecting, but pretty nice! I liked the minimal bitterness, not clolyingly sweet and the crisp flavours were refreshing! Great to sample super fresh and this one tasted like nine per cent alcohol, not way more! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 21-July-2021 for US$4,99, packaged on 01-March-2021 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 15-August-2021.

Super deep dark brown coloured body with a thickish, three centimetre tall, velvety smooth rich brown coloured head that fades slowly and is only one centimetre or so at first sip. Aroma of molasses, spice, nutmeg, canella, star anise, roasted malt, oatmeal, vanilla and a bunch of alcohol and chocolate here. Full-bodied; Super rich chocolate and earthiness at first with a big roasted malt, oatmeal and nutty flavour that brings out some of the spices and a kick of the vanilla, lactose and creaminess. Aftertaste shows a lot more depth with some spice aspects, including chiles, but mainly the canella, allspice and anise push through the rich malts and malty flavours and while there is still the sweetness here from the molasses and caramel, the alcohol warmth is pungent here, as expected. Overall, a pretty nice, full-flavoured, complex, pungent and deeply spiced beer that hits the right notes at the right time - this will mellow out and smooth over time and I can imagine that about three years from now, this one would be sublime! Great to sample fairly fresh and I wish I had more for later, this is a rare Imperial Stout that i'm drinking fresh! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia in October 2020 for US$2,99 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 14-August-2021.

Can from Publix, Augusta. Strong vanilla, lime and lactose on the nose. Not outrageously tart which works with this. It's decent.
